Frequently asked questions
When should I start fertilising plants in soil?
Quality pre-fertilised substrates usually contain a supply of nutrients for the first few weeks of growth, so freshly transplanted plants do not need to be fertilised immediately. You apply the basic fertiliser gradually as soon as the supply in the soil begins to run low, following the dosage table for the given range.
What is the difference between organic and mineral fertiliser for soil?
Organic fertilisers feed the soil life, which gradually releases nutrients to the plants, and they are more forgiving of small dosing mistakes. Mineral fertilisers supply nutrients directly and quickly, and exact doses are easier to control with them. Both approaches are successfully used in soil.
How do I know if I am overfeeding the plant?
Overfertilisation in soil shows as dark, curling leaves with burnt tips and a build-up of salts on the surface of the substrate. In such a case, flushing with clean water and reducing fertiliser doses in the following waterings will help.
Do I need to stop fertilisers before harvest (flush)?
Flushing in the final weeks helps wash away salt residues and improves the final taste and odour of the harvest. In soil, it is enough to water with clean water only, or use products intended for flushing.
