Zip-lock plastic bags are the simplest way to sort and store dried herbs, seeds and small growing accessories. The resealable zip keeps the contents dry and protected from air, so the aroma and colour last longer than in loosely folded packaging. Depending on what you store and for how long, you can choose between a standard PE bag, a stronger zip bag or a special odour-proof solution.
How to choose bags
- Size and volume - from small 19x16 cm bags for portions of around 30 g up to the 43x43 cm format for a whole kilogram. Smaller packs are suitable for dividing the harvest into doses, larger ones for storing a bigger quantity at once.
- Closure type - a simple zip is enough for normal sorting, while the Dual Lock double zip in the Zip-Zag range seals significantly better and remains resealable even after many uses.
- Transparent vs. opaque - a transparent bag gives a quick overview of the contents, while opaque Mylar protects sensitive contents from light, moisture and air, which is worthwhile for long-term storage.

Frequently asked questions
Are zip-lock plastic bags reusable?
Yes. Better-quality bags, especially Zip-Zag with a double zip, can be rinsed and used several times without the closure giving way. Standard PE bags are better treated as single-use for sorting.
Which bag is best against odour?
Qnubu odour-proof bags and thick opaque Mylar bags are designed to reduce odour. They combine a seal and a material that lets very little odour from the contents through.
What bag size should I choose?
Go by the amount for one portion. For small doses, choose a format around 19x16 cm, for regular storage 27x28 cm, and for larger quantities 43x43 cm.
