Terra Aquatica Hydroponic Systems (General Hydroponics)

Hydroponics means growing without traditional soil - the roots are fed directly by a solution of water and nutrients, so the plant does not waste energy searching for food and grows faster. Terra Aquatica, formerly known as General Hydroponics, was there at the birth of home hydroponics more than 25 years ago, and its systems are still among the most proven today.

How to choose a Terra Aquatica hydroponic system

Choose according to the number of plants, the space and how much care you want to devote to the system:

• CultiMate S / WaterFarm - compact drip irrigation for one plant, dimensions 30x30x37 cm, an ideal start for a small tent.
• CultiMate L / AquaFarm - a more powerful 46x46x43 cm unit, versatile for indoor and outdoor use, also available in a version with a solar panel.
• AeroFarm - aeroponic baskets, the roots grow in the air and are misted with solution; excellent oxygenation and fast growth even in a confined space.
• Ebb&Grow - an ebb-and-flow system (Ebb & Flow) that regularly floods the growing medium and then drains it, so the roots receive solution and oxygen in cycles; a version with a solar panel and a set of fabric pots.

The Controller ACS can be used to expand the setup, connecting multiple containers and maintaining the same pH and EC throughout the system. The systems can be built modularly - start with one plant and add more over time.

Frequently asked questions about Terra Aquatica hydroponics

Is hydroponics suitable for a beginner?

Yes. Single-plant units such as WaterFarm or AquaFarm are designed so that even a beginner can handle them - you only need to monitor the solution level, pH and EC. Complexity only increases with large connected setups.

What do I need besides the system itself?

A nutrient solution, an inert medium (most often expanded clay), and measuring tools - a pH metre and an EC metre. A backup air pump is also useful for better oxygenation of the solution.

How often should the nutrient solution be changed?

Usually once every one to two weeks, depending on the size of the reservoir and the plants' uptake. Between changes, top up the water regularly and check the EC and pH so that the nutrient concentration does not drift.

Can Terra Aquatica also be grown outdoors?

Yes, the CultiMate and Ebb&Grow ranges are versatile for indoor and outdoor use; the solar versions additionally power the pump without a mains connection.
