The renowned Dutch company Atami has been producing top-quality coconut substrates for more than two decades. The range of these coconut substrates is very varied and balanced, as you can see below.
The 50 litre pack of Atami Coco is suitable for growing plants indoors and outdoors, in automatic irrigation systems and in standard pots. It contains precisely cleaned and buffered coconut substrate with RHP certification, enriched with nutrition for the first week of the growing cycle, which is especially appreciated by beginners. However, its quality also makes it suitable for the most demanding growers. The growing mat is based on the same composition. You will achieve the best results when combined with two-component fertilisers ATA Coco Max or B’cuzz Coco.
The latest inert coconut-based medium offers growers a composition enriched with lightweight inert perlite for unprecedented porosity and airiness. Your plants will grow faster thanks to this extra aerated coconut substrate, as nutrient uptake through their root system will increase.
In the composition of Atami Hydro Rokz Cocos, coconut fibres account for 40% and the majority 60% share is expanded clay, creating an ideally drained inert medium for hydroponic growing. You can combine this substrate both with hydroponic fertilisers and with nutrition intended for coconut.
Which Atami coconut to choose
If you want a simple start with minimal fertilising in the first week, choose Atami Coco (20 or 50 l) - it is buffered, contains beneficial Trichoderma and is also suitable for self-watering systems. If you want full control over nutrition from the first watering, choose Washed & Buffered Cocos with 100% washed fibre and very low EC. For faster growth and a airier root ball, High Porosity Cocos with perlite is intended, and for hydroponics Hydro Rokz 60/40 is suitable, where 60% expanded clay ensures perfect drainage.

Do I need to wash or buffer Atami coconut before use?
No. Atami coconut substrates are already washed and buffered, with stable pH and low EC, so you can use them straight away. The exception is if you want to set the EC entirely yourself - then choose Washed & Buffered.
Which fertilisers should I use in Atami coconut?
Coconut requires two-component nutrition intended for this medium, for example ATA Coco Max or B'cuzz Coco. Universal soil fertilisers are not suitable for coconut, because coconut requires a different ratio of calcium and magnesium.
What is the difference between Atami Coco and High Porosity Cocos?
Atami Coco is pure buffered coconut. High Porosity is enriched with perlite, which increases airiness and drainage - the roots have more oxygen and the plant absorbs nutrients faster.
Is Atami coconut suitable for AutoPot and irrigation systems?
Yes, buffered Atami Coco is suitable for automatic irrigation systems and standard pots. For hydroponics with higher drainage, Hydro Rokz with expanded clay is the better choice.
