EC Calibration Solutions

An EC metre is only as accurate as how often and with what you calibrate it. EC calibration solutions have a precisely defined conductivity to which you set the device - typically 1.413 mS or 2.76 mS. Choose according to the values required by your metre.

Calibration solutions intended for EC metres are mainly produced in variants of 1.413 mS and 2.76 mS. EC calibration solutions 2.8 mS or 2.77 mS are identical to the 2.76 mS values above. So do not be confused; the difference lies purely in rounding.

In both variants, solutions from the brand Growth Technology called CONDUCTIVITY STANDARD are very popular among growers.

Our customers also often buy solutions from the traditional company Milwaukee.

Frequently asked questions

Which solution value should I choose - 1.413 or 2.76 mS?

Follow the manual for your metre. Some devices are calibrated at one point, others at two. For nutrient solutions in growing, 2.76 mS is often suitable because it is close to working EC values.

Is 2.8 mS solution the same as 2.76 or 2.77 mS?

Practically yes - it is the same standard, the values differ only by rounding and the method of conversion. You calibrate the device with them in the same way.

How often should an EC metre be calibrated?

Ideally before every important set of measurements and otherwise roughly once every few weeks of regular use. The probe ages over time and drifts without calibration.

Can calibration solution be used more than once?

Never pour used solution back into the bottle so you do not contaminate it. Store it in a cool place away from direct sunlight and observe the shelf life.
