When to use BioNova MgO 10

This product is intended primarily for situations where plants show signs of magnesium deficiency. Add MgO 10 if you use reverse osmosis (RO) water, which is demineralised and does not contain naturally occurring minerals, including magnesium. Likewise, supplementation is important when growing under modern LED lighting, which often increases plants' demand for this element. If you use BioNova base fertilisers such as Soil Supermix or Hydro Supermix in combination with ordinary tap water, additional MgO 10 is usually not necessary, because these fertilisers already contain a balanced amount of magnesium.

Signs of deficiency and excess

Magnesium deficiency typically appears on older, lower leaves as chlorosis (light yellowing) of the tissue between the veins, while the veins remain green - the leaves may look marbled. Gradually, the symptoms spread to younger leaves, photosynthesis slows down, flowers are smaller and less colourful, and untreated leaves eventually dry out and die.

Magnesium excess appears as overall unhealthy and slowed growth and the formation of unnaturally small leaves.

Instructions for use and dosage

Adjust the dosage to the current needs of the plants and the quality of the water used.

A dose in a ratio of 1:1000 (e.g. 10 ml per 10 l of water) increases the total amount of magnesium in the solution by 2 mmol.
