Pre-fertilised Florganics substrate belongs to the category of so-called Living Soil - living soil in which a community of microorganisms works. They break down organic matter and gradually release nutrients from it, so the plant receives nutrition naturally and continuously. It is suitable for growers who want to reduce fertilising and leave the work to soil life.
How Living Soil works
Unlike the mineral approach, where you supply nutrients through a precisely dosed solution, here the soil itself feeds the plant. The blend is probiotic - it contains live microorganisms - and is enriched with FLO, Florganics' universal fertiliser with live cultures. The substrate is ready to use straight from the bag, so there is no need for mixing or pre-fertilising. The advantage is simplicity and a stable environment around the roots; in return, expect that living substrate prefers regular watering with clean water rather than aggressive fertilising.
DOPE LITE or DOPE SOIL?
We supply both versions in 50-litre packs, and they differ in the amount of FLO fertiliser incorporated:
- Florganics DOPE LITE - enriched with 5% FLO - a lighter, gentler start for more sensitive plants, seedlings and cuttings, or for growers who want to dose nutrition more cautiously.
- Florganics DOPE SOIL - enriched with 10% FLO - a richer blend with a higher nutrient reserve for plants in full strength and growers who want to top up as little as possible.
Simply put: DOPE LITE is the safer choice when you are not sure how much nutrition the plants can handle, while DOPE SOIL offers longer independence without intervention. Both ranges fall under soil mixes, where you will also find pre-fertilised substrates from other brands if you want to compare approaches.

What does Living Soil mean?

Do I still need to fertilise the Florganics substrate?

What is the difference between DOPE LITE and DOPE SOIL?
