Saucers from traditional manufacturers such as Teku, or Plastia fulfil three basic functions:

  1. They prevent flooding the growing area
  2. They help with pot drainage
  3. They make handling easier

Choose according to your needs, from the smallest flexible saucers that allow easy storage to robust large saucers and trays.

If you have decided to take advantage of the benefits offered by the unique HERCULES pots, we also have original HERCULES saucers in stock, which fit them perfectly.

Under a propagator we recommend placing a plastic saucer from the popular brands ROOT!T or GARLAND.

Our TIP: Try the new patterned saucer.

What size saucer should you choose?

Follow the volume and shape of the pot, not just its diameter. Teku square saucers are matched directly to pot volume (15x15 cm for 3.5 l, 20x20 cm for 5.7 l, 27x27 cm for 11 to 20 l); for round ones, choose a saucer with the same diameter or a few centimetres larger than the pot base. We offer round saucers from 20 to 35 cm and square ones from 14 cm upwards.

What is a pot grid and when should you use it?

A grid separates the base of the pot from the saucer or tray and provides insulation between the container and the surface, so the roots do not stand permanently in water. We offer lighter versions as well as reinforced grids with a load capacity of up to 200 kg for heavy containers and propagators.

Must a saucer have drainage holes?

On the contrary - a saucer should have no holes so that it can catch water. Be careful with low growing trays (for example Garland Microgreens Tray 56x28x3 cm without holes): they collect water, so make sure you do not overwater the plants and the roots do not remain standing in a puddle.

Can a saucer be used outdoors too?

Yes, plastic saucers are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Outdoors, bear in mind that water will collect in them when it rains - after heavy rainfall, it is a good idea to pour out the excess so the roots are not permanently flooded.

Not sure which saucer suits your pot? Write to us at info@higarden.cz and we will recommend the right size and shape.
