Rhino Carbon Filters

Odour is the only thing a grow box does not hide on its own - and that is exactly what Rhino carbon filters are there for. They are made from pure Australian activated carbon in two ranges: the more affordable HOBBY for home growers and the robust PRO with a deeper carbon bed for more demanding use.

Rhino carbon filters capture odours and volatile substances from extracted air, so nothing escapes from the grow room to reveal what is happening inside. They suit anyone dealing with tent extraction or smaller grow rooms - depending on capacity and carbon bed depth, both beginners and experienced growers can choose the right one.

How to choose a Rhino filter

The flange diameter and capacity in m3/h are decisive. The filter flange must fit the ducting and fan, and in terms of capacity you should choose the filter so it can handle the volume of air the fan pushes through it. Rhino offers flanges from 100 mm to 315 mm and capacities of roughly 200 m3/h for the smallest models up to 3600 m3/h for the largest PRO. A simple rule applies: the filter should be appropriately sized for the capacity of its fan so the air has time to pass through the carbon bed and the carbon has time to capture the odour.

HOBBY or PRO?

Both ranges use the same pure Australian activated carbon; they differ in carbon bed depth. Rhino HOBBY has a shallower bed, is lighter, easier to handle and is ideal for beginners and occasional growers. Rhino PRO has a deeper bed, lasts two years under normal conditions, and is suitable for more permanent and demanding use.

Range Carbon bed and capacities For whom
HOBBYshallower bed, lighter, 100 to 250 mm, approx. 350 to 1420 m3/hBeginners and occasional growers, easy handling
PROdeeper bed, lifespan approx. 2 years, 100 to 315 mm, approx. 200 to 3600 m3/hExperienced and more demanding growers, continuous use

For proper function, the filter must also fit the ducting and the extraction ventilation system. Rhino is one of the ranges you will find with us alongside brands such as Prima Klima or Can-Filters, and it is suitable wherever discreet odour extraction is the top priority.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a Rhino carbon filter last?

The PRO range lasts about two years under normal conditions, while HOBBY has a shallower carbon bed and therefore a slightly shorter lifespan. Actual service life depends on humidity, dust levels and how long the filter operates.

What filter capacity should I choose?

Choose the filter according to the fan capacity and duct diameter - the flange must fit and the filter must handle the volume of air the fan pushes through it. Rhino covers diameters from 100 to 315 mm.

What is the difference between HOBBY and PRO?

Both ranges use the same Australian activated carbon, but PRO has a deeper carbon bed, longer lifespan and is suitable for more demanding use. HOBBY is lighter, cheaper and easier to handle.

Does high humidity damage the filter?

Yes, permanently high humidity reduces the efficiency and lifespan of activated carbon. Position the filter so the driest possible air passes through it, and consider dehumidification in overly humid environments.
