Circulation Pumps
Water in a hydroponic system must keep moving at all times - otherwise nutrients settle and the roots suffocate. Circulation pumps drive the nutrient solution around the circuit, oxygenate the tank and distribute the nutrient solution where the plants need it. The main factors are flow rate (l/h) and head height, so that the pump can handle your system.

Efficient pumping plays a crucial role in hydroponics and in the operation of irrigation systems. That is why our range includes TOP circulation pumps, or recirculation pumps, from several proven manufacturers with different outputs, so that you can choose exactly the one that will serve you best in terms of price and performance, taking into account the parameters of your hydroponic system. Most models are also suitable beyond hydroponic growing, for example in a pond or fountain.
How to choose a circulation pump
- Flow rate (l/h) - the main parameter. In the range you will find adjustable models from small 150 l/h units up to powerful 6000 l/h pumps. A small tank and a few plants will do with a lower flow rate, while a well-rooted system with dozens of plants needs a stronger pump.
- Head height (water column height) - determines how high the pump will push the water. Important for multi-level and vertical systems.
- Power regulation - adjustable pumps (for example the BOYU range) can be set precisely to the system's needs and save energy.
- System compatibility - for branded sets (Platinium Super Cloner, Aero Star) choose the pump recommended directly for the given system.
Proven models
Versatile adjustable submersible pumps from BOYU (FP-150 to FP-6000) with a non-corrosive shaft and easy cleaning, compact Hailea pumps for smaller circuits, and Platinium pumps tuned for specific cloning and aeroponic sets. For mixing and oxygenating the tank, the Airontek Wave Maker water mixer is also suitable.
What pump output do I need?
Base your choice on the tank volume and the type of system - ideally, the tank contents should be pumped through several times per hour. For multi-level systems, add a reserve for pumping to height.
Can a circulation pump also be used in a pond or fountain?
Yes. Most circulation pumps also work outside hydroponics - in a pond, fountain or as a transfer pump, because the principle remains the same.
Why does the pump run all the time, not just during watering?
The circulation pump keeps the solution moving and oxygenated, so in many systems it runs continuously. Timing is usually handled by the irrigation pump in combination with an irrigation timer.
