Soil mixes are suitable for growing plants in both outdoor and indoor environments. At first glance, they resemble ordinary soil. Unlike soil, however, they are much cleaner, protecting you from the risks associated with growing in ordinary outdoor soil in fields or gardens, which is often more or less contaminated by various chemicals, heavy metals, pollution of natural origin, pests, pathogens or, conversely, a lack of beneficial microorganisms.
Individual soil mixes differ mainly in the proportion and type of peat they contain. Soil is considered an ideal growing medium for complete beginners, as growing in this medium, unlike hydroponics, tolerates a certain number of beginner mistakes. While in hydroponic systems we irrigate the crop several times a day, soil often requires only manual watering a few times a week. At the same time, growers are not deprived of the option of automatic irrigation, so this traditional growing medium is also used by professionals, especially in organic farming.
The main advantage of growing in soil is precisely the possibility of using purely organic fertilisers to achieve an organic-quality harvest.
