Urban Hydro modular hydroponic systems enable efficient growing of plants and crops using the nutrient film technique (NFT). Our range includes low growing channels with or without pre-drilled holes for net pots.

Frequently asked questions
How does the NFT technique work?
A thin film of nutrient solution continuously flows through the channel, from which the roots absorb water and nutrients, and the rest flows back into the tank. The roots therefore have access to both the solution and air at the same time, which supports rapid growth. Urban Hydro NFT channels use a slight slope for this, along which the solution flows from one end to the other.
Should I choose a channel with holes or without?
A channel with pre-drilled holes for net pots is ready for immediate planting and is suitable for standard plant spacing. You will appreciate the version without holes when you want to determine the plant layout yourself or change it according to the crop - you drill the holes where you need them.
What is the difference between a single-layer and double-layer channel?
The single-layer 100x50 mm channel is lower and white on the inside, making it suitable for smaller plants and shorter cycles. The double-layer 100x80 mm channel is higher and black on the inside, so it blocks light better and prevents algae growth in the solution - it is suitable for larger plants and more demanding projects.
Can I also grow in coconut in the Urban system?
Yes, the Urban Coco Gutter channels are used for this. They are designed for growing in coconut substrates and mats and also work with rockwool (mineral wool) mats, combining the benefits of soilless growing with the certainty of a firm medium.
