Excessively high humidity in a growbox or in any growing room is easily eliminated by an effective dehumidifier, whose modern versions also offer very economical operation and easy maintenance.
Why reduce humidity? In the context of indoor growing, it is mainly because of VPD - humidity can contribute to slow plant development - and the occurrence of mould. If you do not use a dehumidifier in the grow room, it is always useful if you have a bathroom with inefficient ventilation, a drying room for mushrooms or herbs, when using basement spaces, or for removing mould indoors.
How does it work? The electrical device draws in humid air and cools it. As the air cools, water condenses and flows into the designated container, which needs to be emptied regularly.
The differences between dehumidifiers are mainly in capacity and the way the air is cooled. Most modern devices use refrigerant and a compressor for cooling (similar to a domestic fridge). In the classic type, you will find a Peltier element, which cools its surroundings using two conductors. Refrigerant dehumidifiers are often noisier, but more efficient than those with a Peltier element.
The dehumidifier can be connected to a plug-in hygrostat, which takes care of automatic switching depending on the relative humidity of the air. More sophisticated hygrostats, which can easily handle even a powerful fan, can be found here.
Also choose according to the output of individual devices with regard to the size of the space in which you need to eliminate excess humidity.
