pH Calibration Solutions
A pH metre measures accurately only when it is regularly calibrated. Calibration solutions with a precisely defined value (most commonly pH 4.01 and 7.01 buffers) serve as a standard against which you adjust the device so it shows the correct pH of the nutrient solution. We have solutions in stock for all types of pH metres.
Not sure whether a single-point calibration is enough, or whether you need both buffers? Write to us at info@higarden.cz and we will advise you.

We have calibration solutions in stock pH4 and pH7 for all types of pH metres, please choose.
The calibration solution pH7 is ideal for single-point calibration because it is closest to the values most commonly required for plant growing (pH 5.7-6.8) and is also closest to the pH value of neutral water (7).
Growers especially like the solution pH BUFFER 7, or pH BUFFER 4 from the brand Growth technology. The 1-litre bottles are the most economical.
Our customers also often buy calibration solutions from the traditional company Milwaukee.
How often should I calibrate my pH metre?
Ideally before every important batch of irrigation water, and for a device used more often, roughly once a week. Replacing the probe or storing it for a longer period will also require calibration - regularity is the only way to achieve trustworthy values.
Is calibration with one solution enough, or do I need both?
For plant growing, single-point calibration with pH 7 solution is usually sufficient, as it is closest to the target range of pH 5.7 to 6.8. However, two-point calibration with pH 4 and pH 7 buffers is more accurate and covers a wider measuring range.
Can I use the calibration solution repeatedly?
No. Do not pour the solution into which you have dipped the probe back into the bottle - it would be contaminated and would distort the next calibration. Always pour aside the required amount and discard the used remainder.
How should calibration solutions be stored?
In a tightly closed bottle, away from direct light and extreme temperatures. An opened solution has a limited shelf life, so for frequent measuring it is better to choose 1-litre packaging.
