Silver Reflective Films

For indoor growing purposes, silver reflective film is very often used. With its high reflectivity, it improves light distribution in the growing area, so most of the light from an LED panel or discharge lamp is reflected back to the plants and not wasted. Many growers also find bulk buying worthwhile, and we offer it in lengths of up to 100m. You can choose from ECO film (width 1.2 m, length 5 m, 10 m, 30 m or 100m) REFLECT-A-GRO (width 1.4 m, length 1m, 100m) and the popular Mylar film (width 1.4 m, length 10 m, 30 m, 100 m).

ECO film has a white and silver side with decent reflectivity, and is protected against corrosion and creasing. It is available in widths of 1.2m and lengths of 5 m, 10 m, 30m and 100m.

The white-silver film REFLECT-A-GRO is designed for indoor growing, is non-flammable, easy to clean, and its reflectivity is even better than Mylar. It is available in a width of 1.4m and a length of one or one hundred metres.

Among growers, the Mylar film is popular. This semi-transparent silver reflective film provides up to 50% higher light reflection and diffusion. Its surface, like that of the previous types, is resistant to creasing and wear, easy to maintain and, of course, completely non-toxic. Many popular grow tents have a similar surface. It is available in a width of 1.4m in lengths of 10 m, 30 m or 100 m.

Why put film in the grow room at all?

Without reflective walls, some of the light from the panel falls outside the plants and is lost. Silver film sends it back down, so you get more out of one light and illuminate the plants from the sides as well. It is the cheapest way to increase the efficiency of existing lighting.

Which film should you choose?

For everyday use, ECO with decent reflectivity and corrosion protection is enough. If you want maximum reflection, go for REFLECT-A-GRO, which is also non-flammable and washable, or the popular Mylar with up to 50% higher light reflection.

How should the film be attached?

It is most often glued or fixed to the walls of the growing area with the silver side facing inwards. The film can withstand wiping and washing, so it can be kept clean throughout the growing period.

Is glossy or matt better?

Both have their pros and cons - glossy reflects more light, but can create hot spots, while matt distributes light more evenly. You can find a detailed comparison in our article below.
