Heat-Seal and Airtight Bags
When you harvest more than you can use straight away, the way you store it determines the quality. Heat-seal and airtight bags seal dried herbs, fruit or mushrooms in an opaque, waterproof and airtight package that protects the goods from light, moisture and odours. Just choose the size and thickness according to the amount of harvest.

Store your harvest in an opaque black bag made from high-quality waterproof and airtight material. Just choose the thickness and size according to how much you have harvested...
A heat-seal bag made from durable plastic is ideal, for example, for storing dried herbs, sliced dried fruit or mushrooms.
Zip bag or heat-seal bag?
Depending on how often you will open the packaging, a different type is suitable:
- Reclosable zip bags (for example Qnubu or URBAN) - practical for everyday storage, when you need to take the goods out in parts. Many are odour-proof and opaque.
- Heat-seal bags and pouches made of aluminium or Mylar - for long-term sealing. After sealing with a heat sealer, they create a strong, airtight closure that protects aroma and freshness.
Material and thickness
URBAN aluminium heat-seal pouches are made in a thickness of roughly 200 to 280 microns - the higher the number, the more durable and stronger the packaging. The multi-layer PET/AL/PE material reliably blocks light and air, so the contents last longer. The opaque Qnubu and higarden bags are made from safe food-grade material.
Are heat-seal bags airtight and waterproof?
Yes. Opaque heat-seal bags are waterproof and airtight and do not let light through, so they protect dried herbs, fruit or mushrooms from moisture, oxidation and loss of aroma.
Do I need a heat sealer for heat-seal pouches?
For a permanent, airtight seal, yes - the bag is sealed with heat. However, many bags also have a zip closure, so you can use them repeatedly without a heat sealer and seal them only when you want to close the contents for a long time.
What is the benefit of a greater material thickness?
Greater thickness (in microns) means a stronger and more durable bag that is less likely to be damaged and holds its shape better. For long-term storage or sharper contents, choose the thicker version; for everyday use, a thinner one is sufficient.
