Pre-fertilised Plagron substrate
Pre-fertilised substrates Plagron save you the first few weeks of mixing fertilisers - the plant already has enough nutrients from planting. The range extends from lightly fertilised mixes for sensitive seedlings to fully organic mixes that feed the plant for several weeks without additional feeding.

Substrates Plagron are based on high-quality peat and pre-incorporated nutrients. The difference between the individual mixes lies mainly in how long and how strongly they feed the plant - from a few days with the lightest mixes to around six weeks with the fully organic ones. This means you can choose the substrate exactly according to your growing stage and fertilising method.
How the mixes differ
- Lightmix - a lightly pre-fertilised peat substrate with perlite that feeds for roughly the first week. Ideal for young seedlings, clones and growers who want full control over nutrition.
- Growmix - pre-fertilised for the first three weeks of the cycle, after which additional feeding is needed. It also contains worm castings and is well suited to starting plants in soil; for supplementary feeding, the manufacturer recommends the Plagron Terra Grow and Bloom range.
- Batmix - an organic mix whose main nutrient source is bat guano rich in phosphorus and potassium. Pre-fertilised for around six weeks.
- Royalmix and Allmix - fully organic mixes pre-fertilised for approximately six weeks; Royalmix is based on a carefully selected blend of organic fertilisers, while Allmix uses Bio Supermix as its nutritional base. Designed for growers who want to manage the entire start without chemicals.
How to choose the right substrate
Follow the way you want to fertilise. If you like to dose nutrients yourself from the start, choose Plagron Lightmix and add nutrients exactly as needed. If you want peace of mind for the first three weeks, Plagron Growmix is a good choice. And if you prefer an organic approach with a long nutrient reserve, choose Plagron Batmix, Royalmix or Allmix. Those who want complete control and mix their nutrition from scratch can also start with the basic Plagron Promix with vermicompost, but without added fertilisers. The substrates are available in 25 and 50 litre packs depending on the size of the grow room.
With perlite, or without? Lightmix and Growmix are available in two versions - with perlite and without it under comparable conditions. Perlite aerates the substrate and improves drainage, so the roots breathe better and you can more easily avoid overwatering; the version without perlite will be appreciated by growers who handle drainage their own way or mix their own medium ratio.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the substrate feed the plant without additional fertilising? Lightmix for roughly the first week, Growmix for the first three weeks, and the organic Batmix, Royalmix and Allmix mixes for around six weeks. After that, it is suitable to start feeding according to the growth stage.
When should fertilising start with six-week mixes? The conversion of organic nutrients takes around two weeks, so additional feeding is usually started around the fourth week, so that nutrients are available at the moment the pre-fertilisation runs out. With mineral-started Growmix, on the other hand, it is enough to feed only after the first three-week supply has been used up.
Which mix is best for seedlings and cuttings? For this purpose, PLAGRON Seedling and Cutting Substrate 25 l is intended - an enriched mix also suitable for sensitive cuttings. After transplanting more developed plants, the lightly pre-fertilised Lightmix follows on well.
Can I improve Plagron mix further? Yes. Plagron Mega Worm can be worked into any mix, a natural additive from composted worm residues that supports germination, root development and the plant's overall resilience. It is especially suitable where you want to revitalise the soil structure before the next cycle.
Do I need perlite? We offer Lightmix and Growmix with perlite and without it. Perlite aerates the substrate and improves drainage - it is suitable when you want to avoid overwatering.
