Root Pouch Fabric Pots

Root Pouch fabric pots Root Pouch breathe where plastic suffocates - the permeable fabric oxygenates the roots and the plant naturally stops roots from growing too far (air-pruning). You will find both degradable and non-degradable ranges here, from small 8 l bags to 30 l bags with handles, for balconies, greenhouses and grow boxes.

Very stylish and innovative Root Pouch fabric pots decompose in the soil on their own! Before that happens, they ensure efficient use of fertilisers and water, as well as an optimal supply of life-giving oxygen. You can place them in a grow box, in a greenhouse, on a terrace, on a balcony, but they will also serve you well in a courtyard or garden. At any time, you can fold them up in an instant like a bag, and once you wash them, they will be like new again. These pots protect plants from UV radiation. Among their advantages are also excellent thermoregulatory properties. They can withstand heat and cold without losing their charm.

Brown non-degradable pots are available in a version with a handle and without a handle. Grey pots have a lifespan of one and a half to two years.

If you grow agricultural crops such as potatoes or sweet potatoes, the larger Root Pouch pots will serve you very well.

What pot volume should you choose?

Follow the size of the plant and the length of the growing cycle. Smaller variants around 8 litres are suitable for pre-growing, herbs and smaller plants, universal 12 to 16 litres can handle most annuals, and volumes of 30 litres and more are for large plants and even a potato patch on a balcony or courtyard. The Root Pouch Charcoal model with a lower weight of 150 g/m2 and a volume of approximately 12 litres is a welcome choice for indoor growing and hydroponics.

Frequently asked questions about Root Pouch fabric pots

Can Root Pouch fabric pots be washed?

Yes. After harvest, shake them out, wash them by hand in lukewarm water and let them dry - they will be like new again and ready for the next season. The non-degradable ranges are especially suitable for this, for example the brown Boxer Brown.

What is the difference between the degradable and non-degradable version?

Degradable ones (for example the grey ones) gradually decompose in the soil on their own, and their lifespan is usually around one and a half to two years - they are suitable when you plant the plant into the bed together with the bag. Non-degradable ones last through many cycles in a row and can withstand repeated washing.

Why do plants grow better in a fabric pot than in plastic?

The permeable fabric aerates the substrate and offers the roots oxygen from the entire surface. When a root tip reaches the wall, contact with the air naturally stops it (so-called air-pruning), and instead of one coiled root the plant creates a dense branched root ball that absorbs water and nutrients better.

Will the roots overheat in a fabric pot in the sun?

The fabric has good thermoregulatory properties and draws away excess heat and moisture, so plants can withstand heat and cold better than in solid plastic. In extreme heat, it helps to lightly shade the pot or place it so that it does not stand in direct sunlight all day.
