Why does the probe need to be cleaned?
During measurement, salts, proteins and coatings from solutions build up on the glass bulb and reference part of the probe. These slow down the probe's response and the measurement deviates from reality. The cleaning HCL solution dissolves these deposits and the probe measures correctly again.
How often should I clean the probe?
It depends on how intensively you measure and how contaminated the solutions you test are. As a guideline, it is worth cleaning the probe once every few weeks of normal operation and whenever you notice that the metre responds slowly or the readings take longer to stabilise than before. After cleaning, it is advisable to calibrate the device again.
Can I use one solution for both pH and EC metres?
Yes, the cleaning solutions in our range are suitable for pH and EC metre probes. For complete care, however, it is ideal to supplement them with storage solution, in which the probe rests properly between measurements.
Does cleaning solution replace calibration?
No, they are two different steps. Cleaning removes dirt from the probe, while calibration then aligns the device according to reference calibration solutions. For reliable measurement, both go together - first clean, then calibrate.
