Large saucers and trays solve two different things in a grow tent: they protect the floor from overflow and at the same time are the basis of the Ebb&Flow flood growing method. Depending on what you need, choose one of the two groups.
Large saucers - protection against flooding
One large saucer usually replaces an entire row of small saucers - you can place several pots on it at once and excess watering does not end up on the floor. We stock them in a full range of sizes, from 60x60 cm to elongated 120x60 cm pieces and large square 100x100 cm ones, so they are suitable under individual plants as well as under an entire hydroponic system. Deeper models also hold more water, which you will appreciate when watering during periods of absence.
You will most often choose saucers from the Garland brand made of hard recycled plastic - among them you will find shallow saucers under fabric pots, deeper working trays and versions with a capillary mat for self-watering.
Flood trays for the Ebb&Flow method
A flood tray is the heart of the Ebb&Flow system (flood and drain). The principle is simple: a pump floods the tray with nutrient solution, it soaks into the roots, and once the pump stops, the solution drains back into the tank. This regular ebb and flow perfectly oxygenates the roots and supports rapid growth. We stock Ebb&Flow flood trays in sizes from 110x33 cm to large 100x200 cm, as well as the complete Ebb&Grow system from Terra Aquatica. For the trays, also buy fittings with a filling and drain valve and an overflow.
For confined spaces, we also offer the flexible Flexi tray in sizes 120x120 and 150x150 cm - they can be arranged even where a rigid tray will not fit.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a saucer and a flood tray?
A saucer is passive - it only catches excess water and protects the floor. A flood tray is an active part of the Ebb&Flow system: plants are watered in it by regular flooding with nutrient solution.
How do I choose the size of a saucer?
Start from the footprint you want to cover. A large saucer should extend beyond the dimensions of all the pots together so that it also catches watering that overflows over the edge. For larger plants, choose deeper models.
Can trays be sent by courier?
Large flood trays and Flexi tray are fragile and are usually intended mainly for personal collection. Before ordering, contact us and we will arrange the best delivery method.
