Practical propagation tablets from Jiffy® are useful when cloning plants. They are considered a completely ideal medium for cuttings and seedlings. The advantage is that immediately after rooting, you only need to move the tablet into the growing medium.
The composition of these propagation tablets, consisting of premium peat and coconut in dehydrated form, is also supplemented with a small amount of easily absorbed fertiliser, which will greatly help seedlings to step boldly into a life full of vitality.
This medium is very airy and at the same time retains water excellently after it rapidly increases its volume when soaked in water. The roots of young herbs and crops receive an optimal amount of oxygen, and thanks to this they have excellent conditions for further development.
You can safely support the root system of your plants in these propagation tablets with any root stimulator.
Which Jiffy tablet diameter should you choose? We offer the popular Jiffy 7 range in three sizes - 33 mm, 39 mm and 41 mm. The smaller diameter is enough for small seeds and delicate cuttings, while the larger one gives stronger seedlings more space. For grow rooms and nurseries, large-volume packs of hundreds to thousands of pieces are also available.
Frequently asked questions
How are Jiffy propagation tablets used?
You place the dry tablet in water and wait until it absorbs it and increases in volume several times over. You then plant the seed or insert the cutting into the hole that forms. Keep the medium moist and transplant it together with the tablet once the roots have grown through.
Do I have to remove the seedling from the tablet?
No. One of the main advantages is that you move the entire tablet into the growing medium, hydroponics or cube without pulling out the roots. The plant therefore does not experience transplant shock.
What are Jiffy tablets made of?
The base consists of premium peat and coconut in a compressed, dehydrated state, supplemented with a small amount of easily absorbed fertiliser for the first days of the seedling. The medium is airy and at the same time holds water well.
Do I need a root stimulator for the tablets?
It is not essential, but it helps cuttings significantly. By soaking the cutting in a root stimulator before inserting it into the tablet, you support root formation and speed up rooting.
