Growth Technology Fertilisers
Growth Technology has been formulating hydroponic nutrients since 1984 and is now behind terms every grower knows - such as the rooting gel Clonex or the universal feed Formulex. Alongside these, you will also find specialist fertilisers from the Focus range for tomatoes, chillies, orchids and houseplants.

The British brand Growth Technology is one of the pioneers of hydroponic nutrition - it began formulating nutrients in 1984, first for agricultural crops and soon after for home growers too. Today, the range covers the plant’s journey from cutting to harvest, so both beginners and professionals can choose here.
How to choose
First, clarify the stage and purpose. Rooting products and starter feed are aimed at propagation and the start of young plants, while PK boosters and specialist fertilisers are for the flowering period. The growing medium also matters - many products are stabilised for hydroponics and soilless substrates, while others are intended for classic houseplants and useful plants.
- Clonex - a rooting gel with hormones, vitamins and nutrients that coats the cutting and starts rapid rooting.
- Formulex - balanced base feed for seedlings and young plants, for watering and foliar application.
- Ionic PK Boost - concentrated phosphorus and potassium (PK 14/15) for the flowering and fruiting stage.
- Ionic Cal-Mag PRO - addresses calcium and magnesium deficiency, pale and yellowing leaves.
- SuperDrive - a vitamin-based stimulant for all stages, reducing stress from transplanting or fluctuating conditions.
Focus range and specialist fertilisers
Under the Focus heading you will find nutrition tailored to a specific crop: Tomato Focus for tomatoes (and also cucumbers, courgettes and peppers), Chilli Focus for chillies and peppers, Orchid Focus Grow and Bloom for orchids without urea and ammonia, and Houseplant Focus for houseplants. The advantage is clear - the ratio of macro- and micronutrients is prepared exactly for the given plant, so there is no need to mix and guess.
Where Growth Technology is suitable
Universal Formulex and the Ionic range work well in hydroponics, coco and classic substrate. Clonex rooting products will be appreciated by anyone propagating cuttings, while specialist Focus fertilisers are ideal for growers of useful and ornamental plants at home and on the balcony.
Do I need to adjust the pH with Formulex?
Formulex has a stabilised pH, but in your own water the final value may differ. In hydroponics and more sensitive media, we recommend checking the pH after mixing with a pH metre and adjusting it if necessary.
How do I use Clonex?
Before placing it into the medium, the cutting is dipped into Clonex gel, which creates a protective layer around the cut and supplies hormones and nutrients for root formation. The gel is not mixed with water; it is applied directly.
Are Ionic Grow and Bloom different from the Focus range?
The Ionic range is designed mainly for hydroponics and soilless growing with an emphasis on solution purity, whereas Focus fertilisers are aimed at specific crops in soil and coco. The choice depends on what you grow and in what medium.
