Prima Klima PK100EC-TC - quiet and efficient extract, 100 mm diameter and 580 m3/h

Prima Klima PK100EC-TC is a duct radial fan with an efficient EC motor. It draws in air and easily overcomes the resistance of a carbon filter and ducting; the impeller with backward-curved blades and the aerodynamic housing made of non-flammable polyamide (nylon) keep operation quiet and reliable. The connection and control technology is integrated into the housing.

What EC motor means

EC motor (electronically commutated, from the German manufacturer ebm-papst) is a type of motor - efficient, quiet and with smooth electronic speed control built directly into the motor. Unlike a classic AC motor, the speed is not reduced by a lossy dimmer, so the fan draws only as much energy as it really needs for the given airflow - even at lower speeds. The result is lower consumption, less noise and a longer service life. EC refers to the motor, not the way it is connected to another device.

Built-in temperature-based control

The control unit is built directly into the fan body and is operated with three rotary controls: target temperature (range 20-30 deg. C), maximum speed and minimum speed. The fan maintains the set minimum, and when the temperature exceeds the target, it smoothly increases up to the set maximum. It does everything on its own, without an external controller.

Why it pays off

The combination of the EC motor and built-in control means the lowest operating costs and peace of mind: the fan uses only as much energy as the given airflow requires, and keeps noise to a minimum even at higher output.

Which tent it suits and how to size it

With a maximum airflow of 580 m3/h, the fan is suitable for a tent around 100x100 cm, and with a margin even 120x120 cm. The fan diameter, filter flange and ducting should all be the same (100 mm) - otherwise unnecessary resistance, power loss and noise occur. A carbon filter and bends reduce the actual airflow, so choose the fan with a margin above the needs of the space.

How large a tent is the fan suitable for?

The maximum airflow of 580 m3/h at a diameter of 100 mm covers a tent around 100x100 cm, and with a margin even 120x120 cm. Allow for a margin: a carbon filter and duct bends reduce the actual airflow of the setup, so choose the fan with more headroom than the tent needs rather than exactly at the limit.

What is the difference between the -TC and -THC versions?

The -TC suffix means built-in temperature-based control: the fan increases speed on its own when the temperature rises above the set limit. The -THC version regulates temperature and air humidity at the same time, so it keeps the climate within the target range (close to the VPD principle). For cultivation, humidity is just as important as temperature, which is why -THC is the more advanced variant.

Do I need an external controller for the fan?

No. The control is built directly into the fan body, controls the speed itself and works without any additional device. Only owners of ECblue series models, which do not have built-in control, buy an external controller separately.
