Carbon odour filters Prima Klima
Are you dealing with unwanted odours drifting indoors from your grow tent? It is time to install a filter in the ventilation system that absorbs odours using activated carbon. Effective carbon filters from leading manufacturers such as PrimaKlima, CAN-Filters, ECO VF and PRO-ECO VF are used not only in indoor plant growing, but also in industrial premises or at home.
We will be happy to help you combine an odour filter with a fan. Just get in touch at info@higarden.cz.

Choose from a wide range of odour filters, from more affordable options to products designed for professionals. Installing a filter before the fan cleans the air in systems used for indoor growing. The main functional component of odour filters is activated carbon, which removes unpleasant odours from the air extracted from the grow tent.
Carbon filters are environmentally friendly and have a positive effect on air purity. When choosing a filter, pay particular attention to the required air flow and duct diameter. Most filters are placed directly in the growing space; the exception is inline carbon filters, which can also be placed outside.
Carbon filters contain a fine granular form of carbon called "activated carbon", which is produced by a special process. Each grain of activated carbon has a highly porous surface, giving it a huge surface area relative to its size. This carbon can clean the air and remove odours passing through it. It does this by attracting and then trapping impurities and aromatic substances on its surface.
The first criterion for choosing a carbon filter is the amount of high-quality activated carbon. The proportion of carbon directly affects the efficiency of odour and impurity filtration from the air. In this respect, PRO-ECO products stand out. There are various types of carbon that differ in porosity - the more pores, the better the adsorption properties.
Filters are also distinguished according to the type of activated carbon:
- Pellets are small cylinders with a diameter of 2-6 mm that absorb odorous air only through the end face of the pellet. Proven filters with this type of high-quality carbon are made, for example, by Prima Klima.
- Granules are chopped pieces of carbon (1-5 mm). They absorb odorous air across their entire surface. As a result, compared with pellets they offer a significantly larger air capacity at the same weight, or the same capacity at a lower weight. This type of filter is made, for example, by PRO-ECO from high-quality carbon originating in Australia.
If the manufacturer does not state the weight of the carbon, it can be identified from the total weight of the filter. You need to pay attention to differences in the materials from which the filter casing may be made. The casing is usually made of steel, which is durable but not exactly light (CAN-Filters, Prima Klima). In addition to steel, aluminium housing is also used (PRO-ECO). Aluminium is noticeably lighter than steel, so at the same weight the proportion of carbon contained in aluminium housings is much higher.
The thickness of the carbon layer has a direct effect on the filter's service life. The simple rule here is: the thicker the layer, the longer the service life. A representative example is the excellent company Prima Klima, which produces odour filters in the ECO (cheaper and thinner) and Industry (thicker layer, higher price, significantly longer service life) ranges. The same analogy applies to the CAN-Filters brand and their CAN-Original, CAN-Lite and CAN-Special ranges.
It should also be noted that the clock starts ticking for every filter from the moment it is first connected. No matter how hard you try, no filter lasts forever. Dust in the environment or increased humidity can also reduce service life.
TIP: A pre-filter made of non-woven fabric protects the filter itself from clogging with dust and any larger particles. A clean pre-filter increases the service life of the carbon filter - it can be easily shaken out, vacuumed with a vacuum cleaner or simply put in the washing machine.
You will not go wrong with any of the filters listed above, but if you would still welcome expert advice, we are here for you at the well-known address info@higarden.cz.
