Activated carbon is a highly porous carbon with an exceptionally large surface area.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Activated carbon is carbon with a porous structure and a large internal surface area (1050 m2/g). It can adsorb a wide range of substances, including odour. It can therefore be used as a replacement filling for odour filters. Its shape is in the form of pellets with a diameter of approx. 4 mm. The lifespan of activated carbon is approximately 18-24 months.

It is suitable, for example, for the refurbishment of carbon filters.

Activated carbon can be used for a wide range of activities. In industry, activated carbon is widely used in the production of drinking water, capture of volatile substances in paint shops, decolourising liquids, production of water for the food industry, production of non-alcoholic beer, and also in the military, in the production of protective equipment, in the cleaning of biogas, landfill gas, and natural gas; for the capture of dioxins, activated carbon is “injected” together with other substances that adjust pH into flue gases in waste incinerators.

In the home, it is commonly used in cooker hoods and in the filters of deep fryers.

Calculation for selecting a suitable filter
We calculate the air volume in the room by multiplying the length of the room (m) by the width of the room (m) and the ceiling height (m).
For example: A room 4 m long, 3 m wide and with a ceiling height of 2 m => 4 x 3 x 2 = 24 m3
We multiply the resulting air volume by 60 (i.e. the number of minutes per hour), which tells us how much air needs to be cleaned in 1 hour.
We compare the result with the maximum output of the selected filter. If its max. output is higher than our result, the filter is sufficient for the given space.
