LED grow lights are lights developed to emit as much light as possible that is useful for photosynthesis. Plants can use more light than just what we can see with the naked eye. LED lighting achieves significantly higher efficiency than discharge lamps. Depending on the chips used and the overall design, they can achieve several times better results at lower cost. You use one light for growth and flowering, that is, throughout the entire growing cycle. LED grow lights have been enjoying a significant boom in indoor gardening for some time, and thanks to their advantages they are popular with both experienced and beginner growers. They are one of the most modern types of lighting for grow tents and other indoor growing areas. Compared with classic discharge lamps, LED lights are simply on another level.
LED lights do not need shades (reflectors), because the light created by evenly distributed diodes is very even on its own.
They emit much less heat (even a smaller grow box does not overheat), they can be placed at a much shorter distance from plants, and there are also no unnecessary energy losses. Installation of these devices is usually quick and easy. Hang it up – plug it in – light it up.
LED technology in the case of more advanced models gives you the option to set the light spectrum and adjust the radiation intensity, depending on whether you need to shine on seedlings, plants in the vegetative stage, flowers or fruit. The lights can often be controlled externally. Through a smart controller it is possible to set not only the lighting time and intensity, but also sunrise and sunset, regulate lighting according to temperature, and automatically dim several lights at once.
Compared with standard discharge lamps, grow LED lights are somewhat more expensive. However, this is an investment that will pay off as soon as you see your electricity bill. In the end, you will not only save money, but will probably also achieve better results. LED luminaires also last for several years without any problem. For example, LED diodes from Lumatek are built for more than 60,000 hours of lighting. For the luminaire from Viparspectra that is up to 100,000 hours. That is an impressive figure, about 20 times higher than HPS discharge lamps!
TIP: If you use LED lighting, we recommend adding a fertiliser to your watering, which will supplement the common deficiency of calcium and magnesium.
