Product detailed description
The smallest hydroponics for a small space
CultiMate S (formerly sold as WaterFarm) is a compact version of the proven Terra Aquatica home hydroponic system. With a footprint of 30.5 x 30.5 cm, it fits on a windowsill, shelf or narrow balcony and takes care of one plant - herbs, chilli or smaller bush vegetables. It is the ideal first step into hydroponics.
How CultiMate S works
The plant grows in a basket with washed expanded clay above a tank with nutrient solution. An air pump forces air into the pumping column, the bubbles push the solution into the drip ring and it lets it drip back through the expanded clay and roots. The solution is oxygenated and nutrients flow to the roots continuously. The pump uses less than 2 W.
The body is rotationally moulded in France from recycled plastic with light and UV shielding, which prevents algae in the tank. The moulded plastic parts come with a lifetime warranty (excluding the motor and auxiliary parts).
Why choose size S
Choose size S when you have little space and want to grow one smaller plant. A 15 l tank means a smaller footprint, but also more frequent topping up - the solution is used up faster than in the larger CultiMate L (AquaFarm) with 45 l. If you are planning a larger plant or longer care intervals, choose L. Four S units are connected by the WaterPack ACS set for growing multiple plants at once.
What you will need
The system is a complete set. Buy washed expanded clay as the medium and nutrient solution separately. Rinse the expanded clay with clean water before first use.

Frequently asked questions
What substrate belongs in CultiMate S?
Use washed expanded clay (hydroton), ideally a fraction around 8-16 mm. Before pouring it into the basket, rinse it with clean water so that clay and dust do not get into the 15 l tank. Expanded clay keeps the roots aerated and distributes drip irrigation evenly.
How often do I need to top up the solution?
The smaller 15 l tank means the solution is used up faster than in larger systems, especially with a mature plant in warm weather. Check the level regularly and top up the nutrient solution before it drops to the pumping column. If you want longer intervals, consider the larger CultiMate L with a 45 l tank.
