Detailed information

Product detailed description

The lightweight BioNova Open Top Coco Bag consists of high-quality dehydrated coconut and a fabric pot. Unlike the plastic version, it has a fabric cover that supports breathability and drains excess moisture away from the roots.

By adding about 5 litres of water, you will get 12 to 13 litres of high-quality coconut substrate for indoor and outdoor growing of plants and crops.

Substrate features

It is the same type of compressed and dehydrated coconut fibre as the other BioNova Open Top Coco Bag substrates - it is lightweight, quickly absorbs water and stimulates perfect root development. The coconut substrate is not compact, which makes it easier to drain off excess watering.

Instructions for use

Unpack and gradually add up to 5 litres of water. Let the substrate swell in the fabric pot, mix the blend thoroughly and after approximately 30 minutes you will have 12-13 litres of substrate ready for use.

How to fertilise the substrate

The coconut substrate does not contain a nutrient reserve on its own, so fertilise from the first watering. We recommend the two-part fertiliser Coco Forte A+B designed directly for coconut substrates together with PK 13-14 throughout the flowering period. When watering with soft or RO water, supplement the substrate with Ca 15 and MgO 10.

Frequently asked questions

Which fertiliser should the substrate be fertilised with?

Coconut does not contain a nutrient reserve, so from the start fertilise with the two-part Coco Forte A+B together with PK 13-14 throughout the flowering period.

How much water is needed to water the bag?

About 5 litres of water is enough, the substrate will swell to a volume of 12-13 litres, just like the plastic version of Open Top Coco Bag.

How does the fabric version differ from the plastic one?

The substrate is the same compressed dehydrated coconut, only the packaging differs - the fabric pot is more breathable and supports the drainage of excess moisture away from the roots compared with the plastic version.
