Product detailed description
Driver STIXX 2 with current reserve
SANlight Driver Set STIXX 2, 270W is a Smart Driver for STIXX 2-60 linear lights. According to the official SANlight table, it can run three lights at full power - just like the smaller 160W version, but with a significantly higher output current (7 A) and reserve for a longer chain of cuttings or the later addition of further lights (which then run at reduced power). It powers the STIXX 2 range exclusively.
The driver is sold separately, without lights or cables. To switch it on, you need STIXX 2-60 lights, which without the driver are just a light fixture that does not light up.
Parameters
- Type: power driver (Smart Driver) for the STIXX range
- Maximum output power: 270 W
- Designed for: STIXX 2-60 lights (same range only)
- At full power (official SANlight table): three lights (3x 47 W = 141 W)
- Rated input power of one light: 47 W
- Max. output current: 7.0 A
- Typical output voltage: 38 V DC
- Dimensions (L x W x H): 281 x 90 x 41.5 mm
- Weight: 1.92 kg
- Input voltage: 120-240/277 V AC, 50/60 Hz
- Dimming: blue connector on the driver (M-Dimmer, Bluetooth Dimmer or 0-10V)
- Unused DC ports: termination plug (mandatory)
- Water resistance: M19 connector on the light IP68; the driver's mains plug is not water-resistant
Compatibility
Compatible:
- SANlight STIXX 2-60 and Undercanopy STIXX 2-60 lights - three lights at full power (higher current reserve of 7 A)
- SANlight termination plug (AI5010) for the driver's unused DC ports
- SANlight M-Dimmer and Bluetooth Dimmer dimmers, or a 0-10V signal (blue connector on the driver)
- extension cables and M19 (5 PIN) splitters from STIXX accessories for connecting multiple lights
Incompatible:
- other STIXX ranges (3-80, 4-100, 5-120 and 6-150) - the driver is intended only for its own range
- mixing different STIXX models on one driver - identical lights are required
- STIXX 50 - closed system with its own power supply, different wiring
- EVO and FLEX II lights - different connector and power supply
When to choose the 270W version
The full power of three lights is also handled by the smaller 160W driver, so choose the 270W version mainly for the reserve: higher current and wattage mean that you can connect additional lights to the trio, which then run only slightly underpowered. However, if you are aiming for an entire wall of cuttings and want more lights at full power, go straight for the 530W version (six STIXX 2-60 lights).
Dimming and termination
Dimming is handled by the driver, not the lights: the magnetic M-Dimmer, SANlight Bluetooth Dimmer or a 0-10V signal connects to its blue connector and controls the whole set at once. Then close each unused DC port with a termination plug - it is mandatory, because without it the system may be damaged.
Water resistance
While the M19 connector on the light can handle moisture (IP68), the driver's mains plug cannot - protect it from water. Do not stack multiple drivers on top of each other and leave at least 10 mm between them.
Frequently asked questions
How many STIXX 2-60 lights does the 270W driver power?
At full rated power, it powers three STIXX 2-60 lights - that is what the official SANlight table states (just like with the 160W version, only with a greater current reserve). You can connect more lights, but they will run at reduced power. If you want six lights at full power, choose the 530W version.
Will the driver also run with fewer lights than the maximum?
Yes. The Smart Driver automatically detects how many lights are connected and adjusts the power accordingly. Up to the full number of lights, each STIXX 2-60 light runs at full power; you can therefore start with one and add more later. Fit the unused DC ports with a termination plug.
Why are unused driver ports capped?
Every DC port on the driver that you do not use for a light must be fitted with a termination plug (AI5010) - otherwise there is a risk of system damage. It is a small and inexpensive part, but it is not optional. The plug is not included with the driver or the light, so remember to buy it separately when building the set.
