Advanced Hydroponics Silica

Product detailed description
Peat and coco substrates and clay pebbles practically contain no absorbable silicon. Advanced Hydroponics Silica is a 13% solution of silicon dioxide in hydrolysed form, i.e. orthosilicic acid, which the plant can absorb through the roots and leaves. Silicon strengthens cell walls and the plant epidermis.
0.1 ml per litre - how much feed you can mix from the pack
Silica is dosed at 0.1 ml per litre of nutrient solution, so significantly less than common additives. From every 100 ml you can mix around one thousand litres of feed - converted per litre of feed, Silica is among the most economical supplements in the entire range. Measure it with a pipette or syringe; you will not hit a tenth of a millilitre with a measuring cup.
When and with what to use
Add Silica to the nutrient solution from the growth stage through to the flowering phase, until the fifth or sixth week. The official dosing chart counts it from the second to the eleventh week of the cycle; the shorter window is the more cautious choice. You can also apply it as a foliar feed. Shake the bottle before each use so the solution is homogeneous.
One rule when mixing is binding: Silica and Advanced CalMag are not added to the solution immediately one after the other. Include another component between them and mix the solution after each bottle added.

Frequently asked questions
How much Silica should I dose and what should I measure it with?
The dose is 0.1 ml per one litre of nutrient solution, i.e. 1 ml per ten litres. For such a small volume you need a pipette or syringe - a standard measuring cup is not enough, and an excessive dose of concentrate is not free. Add Silica to the already mixed feed and then stir the solution.
Can I mix Silica with CalMag?
Yes, in one feed, but not immediately one after the other. The procedure is to add Silica, mix the solution thoroughly, include another component and only then reach for CalMag - again with mixing. Never combine both concentrates directly, i.e. from bottle to bottle or into the same measuring cup.
Does Silica make sense even when growing in soil?
Yes. Silica is a suitable additive for every substrate - organic media based on peat or coco, or clay pebbles, offer the plant almost no absorbable silicon. The dosage does not change, still 0.1 ml per litre. You can also apply it as a foliar feed, at the same dose.
You can find the exact dosage for individual ranges in the Advanced Hydroponics dosing chart.
