Product detailed description
When you water with osmosis, rainwater or soft water, two things are missing that dosing charts quietly assume: calcium and magnesium. Advanced CalMag is a nutrient supplement with a balanced ratio of both elements that fills this gap. It is dosed at 1 ml per litre and stays with you from the first week of growth until the start of the final flush.
When you really need CalMag
Water is the deciding factor. Tap water in Europe usually has a conductivity of around 0.4 to 0.5 mS and already contains a certain amount of calcium and magnesium. The official dosing chart assumes starting water with a conductivity of 0.5 mS. Once you switch to osmosis, rainwater or naturally soft water, the situation changes: with osmosis and rainwater you are practically starting from zero, and with soft water very low - and both elements need to be supplemented.
The second case is LED lighting. Under it, plants take up less calcium, and CalMag balances this drop out. You can use it indoors and outdoors, on all substrates and in all irrigation systems - it is not a supplement tied to one growing method.
Dosing and mixing order
Add 1 ml of Advanced CalMag per litre of water and mix it into the feed from the first week of growth until the start of the final flush; in the last two weeks before harvest, only Final Solution is added to the water. Shake the bottle before use. The only limitation concerns the order: Advanced Silica and CalMag are not added to the solution immediately one after the other - another component and mixing belong between them.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need CalMag when I water from the tap?
Tap water in Europe usually has a conductivity of around 0.4 to 0.5 mS and already contains some calcium and magnesium, so CalMag is more of an insurance policy than a necessity. Measure the conductivity of your water - the softer the water, the more sense supplementation makes. With osmosis and rainwater, CalMag is practically always needed.
Does the mixing order matter with Silica and CalMag?
The order does not matter, the spacing does. There is only one binding rule: Silica and CalMag are not added to the solution immediately one after the other. Put any other component between them and stir the solution after each bottle added. Do not pour either concentrate directly into the other. This applies equally to both orders.
Does CalMag help under LED light?
Yes, it is one of the main reasons to reach for it. Under LED lighting, plants take up less calcium and CalMag compensates for this drop. The dosage does not change, still 1 ml per litre until the start of the final flush. The combination of LED plus osmosis water is a situation where CalMag moves from a supplement to a basic necessity.
You can find the exact dosage for individual lines in the Advanced Hydroponics dosing chart.
