Urban Premium carbon odour filter with a 100 mm flange for small grow tents and lower-powered extraction systems. Australian RC412 activated carbon (1050 IAV) reliably captures odours at an optimum airflow of 160 m3/h (max. 240 m3/h).

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Neighbours will not smell a thing - the 100 mm carbon filter Urban Premium removes unwanted odours from the extract air of a grow tent or smaller room. It is the smallest filter in the range, designed for lower-powered extract fans with a 100 mm flange and an optimum airflow of around 160 m3/h (maximum 240 m3/h).

How the 100 mm carbon filter works

Odours are captured by a layer of activated carbon through which the air passes during extraction. Australian granular carbon RC412 with a value of 1050 IAV is used, evenly distributed around the entire circumference of the filter in a bed up to 4 cm thick - the more carbon there is and the longer the contact with the air, the cleaner the air at the outlet. The carbon layer is covered with fine fabric, so the filter does not shed dust and operation remains clean. The conical aerodynamic base distributes the airflow evenly through the entire layer, increasing filtration efficiency and overall service life. The aluminium front and base keep the weight low (1.9 kg) and protect the filter from mechanical damage.

For which extraction system and space

The filter, fan and ducting must all have the same flange diameter - 100 mm in this case. Carbon creates resistance to the air and reduces the actual airflow of the system, so choose an extract fan with a reserve above the tent's requirements. This filter is suitable for fans with an optimum airflow of around 160 m3/h (max. 240 m3/h), making it ideal for small tents and boxes. Use ventilation ducting measuring 100 mm to connect the system. Stronger extraction is covered by the larger variants in the Urban Premium range:

Service life and maintenance

The carbon usually lasts 10 to 15 months, but the exact period depends on the actual airflow and humidity - the higher the airflow and the more humid the air, the faster the carbon wears out. Above approximately 70% relative humidity, the carbon suffers, so operate the filter at a reasonable humidity level. You can extend its service life with the washable external pre-filter included in the package - it captures dust and impurities, preventing the carbon from becoming clogged. Simply wash the pre-filter as needed and put it back in place.

Frequently asked questions

Which fan do I need for the 100 mm filter?

You need an extract fan with a 100 mm flange, because the filter does not move air itself and does not work without a fan. Choose a model with an optimum airflow of around 160 to 240 m3/h, preferably with a small additional reserve, because the carbon reduces the actual airflow of the system. Suitable models can be found in the fans category.

How long does the filter last?

Usually 10 to 15 months of operation, but this is not a fixed figure. Service life decreases with higher airflow and especially with higher humidity - above approximately 70% relative humidity, the carbon wears out faster. The washable pre-filter included in the package protects the carbon from dust and extends its service life.

Do I need to purchase a separate flange or ducting for the filter?

The 100 mm flange is part of the filter, so you do not need to purchase one separately. For connecting it to the fan and routing the air out, ventilation ducting with a diameter of 100 mm is suitable - the same size as the filter and fan. This is the only way for the system to seal properly and for the extraction to operate at full capacity.

What size of space is the filter suitable for?

The 100 mm variant is the smallest in the range and is suitable for small grow tents and boxes where an extraction airflow of around 160 to 240 m3/h is sufficient. For a larger tent or room, choose a more powerful filter with a 125, 150 or 160 mm flange, always paired with a fan of the same diameter.
