Speed Controllers
For the automation of growing processes to make sense, you need to gain control over the power of individual appliances. That is exactly what a speed controller is for: it lets you control the power of fans, LED lighting or ballasts, for example. Speed controllers from GSE are popular, we can only recommend the quality of TechGrow and, if you are looking for something made locally, there is Malapa.
We’ll be happy to help you choose the right controller. Just get in touch via info@higarden.eu.

For the automation of growing processes to make sense, you need to gain control over the power of individual appliances. That is exactly what a speed controller is for: it lets you control the power of fans, LED lighting or ballasts, for example.
At Higarden.cz, we make sure you can find everything you have your eye on at a great price. Speed controllers are no exception.
Let’s start with the simplest option. The Varispeed dimmer rheostat power controller is sold as a single unit and offers an inexpensive way to control the speed of a lower-powered intake or extract fan. Simply plug it into a socket and you can start adjusting the speed.
Among the slightly more advanced devices, we often see the stepless voltage controller from Malapa in customers’ baskets. At the other end of the scale, a transformer controller with 5 speed settings can power and control several motors at once.
General System Engineering is a category of its own. Speed controllers from GSE , an expert in technological equipment, have earned their place in our range in large numbers, and we are pleased to recommend any of these devices to suit your needs.
The devices differ in what they use to control speed. This is often a set minimum or maximum speed, temperature, humidity, negative pressure, light (switching according to a day/night sensor), or you can set the switching hysteresis (sensitivity) or use stepless control only. The truly smart models can control an appliance according to several parameters.
You can also choose easily by the brand of your ventilation equipment, whether it is CAN-Fan, CAN-Filters or PrimaKlima.
Which controller should you choose for an AC fan, and which for an EC fan?
Classic rheostat and transformer controllers (Varispeed, Malapa TR) are designed for AC motors. EC fans need their own EC controller – for example, the Can-Fan EC speed controller or the GAS EC range, which controls speed steplessly from 0 to 100 %. Always check which motor your fan has.
What is the difference between stepless and stepped control?
A stepless controller (for example, Malapa TR20 or TR21, 2200 W) adjusts the speed continuously from zero to maximum. A stepped controller, such as a five-speed transformer controller, switches between fixed speeds and can start several motors at once.
Can a controller switch according to temperature or humidity?
Yes. In addition to manual speed adjustment, more advanced models (Prima Klima ECTC, TechGrow, GSE) offer switching according to temperature, humidity, negative pressure or day and night mode, with hysteresis settings included. Smart control units can monitor several parameters at the same time.
Can a controller manage extract and intake separately?
Dual controllers and thermostats (for example, Malapa MTJ4) have two independent outputs, so you can set different speeds for the extract and intake fans. This is useful when you need to maintain stable negative pressure in a tent.
