How to choose a plant pot?

Are practical high-tech flower pots worth it, or will “ordinary” plastic or ceramic ones be enough for you? It depends on the individual. In any case, today we will compare both sides of the coin.

We certainly do not want to claim that with the arrival of modern pieces and innovations in the range of flower pots, there is no longer any point in buying the old good classic, such as a plastic pot, of which there is also an endless number of variants for all kinds of plants, and you can get them for really very little money.

On the other hand, why not pay a few pounds more, but make gardening significantly easier and at the same time greatly support plants in their development, right? This is where the benefits of modern pieces begin. Let us take a closer look at what makes modern flower pots stand out!

The fact that a pot is plastic does not mean that it cannot be effectively “upgraded” so that your little plants have a root system as strong as the mythical HERCULES. Specifically perforated pots have drainage holes placed all around the circumference, as well as an uneven base with protrusions on the inner side. This combination ensures both the drainage of excess water and the natural expansion of the root mass, so that the roots do not grow out of the pot. As you probably already suspect, HERCULES pots give you the chance to forget once and for all about container degradation! After all, growers who are used to factoring in the degradation of ordinary pots still buy them in larger quantities straight away. The results of cultivation using a Hercules pot are well illustrated by the photo below.

Another representative of elite plastic pots is the Air Pot range. Their construction is the result of 15 years of development, which is why our range already includes the sixth generation of striking pots designed for perfect aeration of the substrate, water drainage and nutrient uptake. AirPot pots benefit from a container-based design that prevents the roots from growing in an undesirable way, namely into a spiral.

We also have a separate category here that has been trendy recently, namely fabric pots. Progress in the development of gardening supplies has also left its mark on this category. Today, you can easily stack dozens of pots on top of each other, put the folded ones into a bag and off you go, perhaps to the cottage. A fabric pot is an ecological alternative thanks to the recyclable materials it is made from, and it is used both in the home and for outdoor growing in the garden. Among growers, pots made of durable fabric are becoming increasingly popular also because of the possibility that conventional pots definitely do not give you, whether they degrade or not. Fabric pots can simply be washed in the washing machine and used again as good as new!

Since we are already talking about technologically advanced pots, we must not forget sophisticated self-watering pots. These will be appreciated by anyone who finds regular watering difficult or is simply often away.

Now that you know what options you have, let us summarise the answer to the question of which pot will be the right one for you.

The growing container should be the right size. So if you plan to grow, for example, a autoflowering plant in one pot, whether it will be tall or, on the contrary, shorter but spreading widely, remember that you can never go wrong with a larger volume than a smaller one. Allow for a reserve; it pays off.

Then there is the age-old dilemma: square pot, or round? Square pots make better use of space with their shape and are ideal for cultivating a larger number of smaller plants in one place. Growing containers with a round base can clearly be recommended for large plants, and most of our customers buy them for this purpose as well. But as can be seen from the picture, the round shape suits not only larger plants...
