How should Canna fertilisers be dosed? Here is a proven procedure!

The dosage depends on the fertiliser product range you have chosen according to the growing method and substrate.
We recommend combining Canna fertilisers with substrates from this excellent Dutch manufacturer.
Apply Canna fertilisers according to the table below, taking into account the growth stage in which the plant is currently located.
You can create your own dosage chart, which will take into account your tank size, input water, fertiliser intensity and convert everything to the units you choose (litres, gallons, EC, CF, TDS)
The main growth and flowering phases are divided into smaller intervals in all four tables for more efficient use of fertilisers. This means that different dosing is suitable during the first 3-5 days while cuttings are rooting, and different dosing again when the plants begin to visibly gain volume, etc. The tables also clearly separate the transitional period between the vegetative phase and flowering.
Do not forget that during the last week of the growing cycle it is important to carry out a flush. At this stage, do not add any of the standard fertilisers to the water. A flush is commonly carried out with plain water, but Canna has its own special additive for the flush stage, FLUSH. With it, you will achieve exceptionally healthy fruits with excellent flavour, as no residues of salts or other undesirable substances will remain in the crop.
Canna also gives growers unique supplementary fertilisers for higher yields and better-quality harvests. The root stimulator RHIZOTONIC, the enzymatic fertiliser CANNAZYM and the flowering stimulators CANNABOOST or PK 13/14. The dosage of these products is also included alongside the base fertilisers in all four tables.
For indoor plant cultivation in a grow box , all tables also include a column with the recommended photoperiod.
And then there is the electrical conductivity of the solution (EC), which needs to be measured with an EC metre. The last two columns are devoted to it, placed in each table after the individual products from the relevant range and the supplementary fertilisers. What is the difference between them?

EC+ value is measured in mS/cm, where the EC of the water is 0.0 at a temperature of 25 °C and pH 6.0. If you use tap water, do not forget to measure its own EC value, which needs to be added. The result should match the EC+ column exactly.
Total EC, shown in the last column, serves as an illustrative example in which it is assumed that the water used to water the plants has an EC of 0.4 mS/cm.

Dosing fertiliser according to the table and the manufacturer’s instructions minimises the risk of over-fertilisation. Nevertheless, we recommend continuously checking how the plants are doing during the growing cycle, as each of them has its own individual needs.

When should you add more and when should you reduce it?

You can temporarily reduce the fertiliser intensity if you notice typical symptoms associated with an excess of nutrients. These are most often indicated by yellowing leaves, spots on their edges, or a white surface on the substrate.
If you notice that the plant, on the contrary, has a lack of nutrients, it is advisable to start fertilising a little more. If the plant is growing unhealthily slowly and its leaves are smaller than is usual for the given species, it is likely to be undernourished. In such a case, you can try increasing the fertiliser intensity and observe whether this has a positive effect on the plant and it begins to thrive better.

CANNA TERRA:

GROWTH

Planting seeds and rooting cuttings (3-5 days):

First of all, moisten the soil.
Use the growth fertiliser Terra Vega as the base nutrition, in an amount of 15-35 ml per 10 litres of water.
RHIZOTONIC will fantastically kick-start root system development. The ideal time is to add 40 ml of root stimulator to the watering.

Growth phase I

The conditions and duration of this phase depend on the size of the growing area and the number of plants grown per square metre.
Mother plants remain in this phase for their entire existence, half a year to a year. Therefore, keep the fertiliser dosage the same for them.
Apply Terra Vega in an amount of 30-50 ml per 10 litres of water.
You can reduce the amount of root stimulator by half, so 20 ml is sufficient.
The right time to add 25 ml of the enzymatic fertiliser CANNAZYM to the watering.

Growth phase II

In this phase, the vegetative period of the plant reaches its peak. Keep the stated dosage until the first flowers or fruits appear.
After 14 days of growth, the lighting period is usually reduced from 18 hours to 12.
Apply Terra Vega in an amount of 35-55 ml per 10 litres of water.
Continue to add 20 ml of root stimulator and 25 ml of enzymatic fertiliser to the watering.
At the end of this phase, the first flowers and fruits appear. To support flowering, also add CANNABOOST to the watering in a minimum amount of 20 ml, but if you want the highest possible yield, the manufacturer recommends twice that amount.

FLOWERING

Flowering phase I

Flowers and fruits elongate. The plant has already reached its final height.
Switch to the base fertiliser for the flowering phase, Terra Flores. 50–70 ml is the optimal amount per 10 litres of water.
It is sufficient to add only 5 ml of root stimulator, but continue to add the enzymatic fertiliser at the same dose (25 ml), as well as CANNABOST (ideally 20-40 ml).

Flowering phase II

Flowers and fruits increase in volume.
Apply Terra Flores in an amount of 50-70 ml per 10 litres of water.
It is precisely at this stage that it is advisable to add 15 ml of the popular product PK 13/14 to the watering!
For the other supplementary fertilisers, the dosage remains the same as in flowering phase I.

Flowering phase III

Flowers and fruits gain weight.
Reduce the Terra Flores dose by 10 ml.
Continue to dose the supplementary fertilisers in the same way.

Flowering phase IV

Fruits and flowers ripen. If this happens too quickly, monitor the relative humidity and reduce the lighting period by 2 hours.
During the last two weeks, do not use any base nutrition or root stimulator.
Continue to dose the enzymatic fertiliser in the same way. If you reuse the substrate, double the CANNAZYM dose for this phase.
Dose CANNABOOST in the same way as in the previous phase.

Recommended pH when using fertilisers from the Terra range is 5.8 – 6.2. The pH values can be adjusted according to the plant’s current growth stage using these products.

Reduce the dose of base nutrition by 10 ml.
Continue to dose the supplementary fertilisers in the same way.

Flowering phase IV

Fruits and flowers ripen. If this happens too quickly, monitor the relative humidity and reduce the lighting period by 2 hours.
During the last two weeks, do not use any base nutrition or root stimulator.
Dose CANNABOOST in the same way as in the previous phase.
