Product detailed description
AutoPot 1Pot XXL50 with 47 l reservoir - 1 pot without daily watering
Do you want to grow large plants and still leave them unattended even at the weekend? AutoPot 1Pot XXL50 serves 1 pot using the AQUAvalve5 valve and can hold one large plant. The XXL50 model with a 50 l pot is the largest 1Pot variant - it will support even robust bushes, tomatoes or ornamental shrubs that would hit the limit in a smaller pot. The set is complete: a 47 l reservoir and 9 mm distribution are included, so you only need to assemble the system, fill it and start it. It is suitable for herbs, vegetables and mature bushes and trees, in indoor and outdoor conditions.
How it waters - using gravity only
Each pot is served by the AQUAvalve5 valve with 9 mm distribution. After connection to the reservoir, the valve opens the supply by itself and lets the tray fill with water to the preset level - by gravity only, without a pump, electricity or a timer. As long as the plant has not used the water from the tray, the valve will not release another dose. The plant therefore goes through a wet and dry cycle, which builds strong roots; once the tray is emptied, the process repeats. You do not use even a watt of electricity.
Textile FlexiPot for huge roots
XXL sets run in round textile pots FlexiPot. Their porous walls air-prune the roots - instead of circling along the plastic wall, a dense branched root ball forms, which absorbs nutrients better. The porosity also oxygenates the substrate and supports vigorous growth. Bear in mind that exposed textile evaporates water, so more pots may slightly increase the humidity in the room.
Recommended substrates
The XXL always requires a freely draining substrate. Mixtures in a 50 % / 50 % ratio have proven effective:
- soil and perlite
- soil and expanded clay
- coconut fibre and perlite
- coconut fibre and expanded clay
- Rockwool and expanded clay
If you use expanded clay, rinse the pebbles first - some types are not stable in terms of pH. Before placing the pot into the tray, clean the bottom and walls of substrate; this will maintain the proper function of the AQUAvalve5 valve.
Reservoir setup and start-up
Place the 47 l reservoir at least 150 mm above the highest AQUAvalve5 valve - for example, a Garland plastic stool can serve as a base. When the irrigation level drops to about 1/3, top it up - and never let it dry out completely. After planting, water and allow 7-10 days for rooting; only then start the system. Stronger roots will then take care of the water from the tray themselves.
Mineral and organic fertilisers
Apply mineral and organic fertilisers through the reservoir and distribution. In the XXL you can also mix dry fertilisers (e.g. Biotabs or Florganics) directly into the substrate. With liquid organics, add a water pump to the reservoir (run for 15 min every 2 h) so the nutrients do not settle, and each time the reservoir is emptied, flush the distribution and clean the reservoir, pump and filter. With mineral fertilisers, operation is the simplest and maintenance-free.
Care for the AQUAvalve5 valve
AQUAvalve5 is a simple but precise device - keep both the valve and the tray clean and free of obstructions. At the end of the season, wash the valve in warm soapy water (an old toothbrush will help). Push limescale out of the nozzle with a paper clip or blow it through; never clean it with a drill - you would destroy the valve.

Expansion and accessories
You can expand the system at any time with another tray: choose the XXL tray and the 1Pot XXL pack with pot. A replacement pot is available as a FlexiPot 50 l, and for a cleaner tray and healthier roots, add the copper PotSock Round 50 l. You can find the whole range in the 1Pot XXL systems category.
Which size to choose
This set serves 1 pot in a 50 l pot - the largest 1Pot pot in the range. The neighbouring size is XXL50 for 2 pots. Do you need a smaller pot and more space? Choose the XXL35 variant with a 35 l pot. The mechanics are the same for all of them; only the number of trays and the capacity differ.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the XXL50 not have an adaptive collar?
The 50 l pot fits directly into the XXL tray; only the smaller 35 l variant needs the collar. You therefore get the largest substrate volume for one plant without extra parts.
Which substrate is suitable for the XXL?
Always a freely draining 50/50 mix - soil/perlite, soil/expanded clay, coconut fibre/perlite, coconut fibre/expanded clay or Rockwool/expanded clay. Drainage is key for alternating the wet and dry cycle.
