Do you want to grow large plants and still leave them unattended even at the weekend? AutoPot 1Pot XXL35 serves 1 pot using the AQUAvalve5 valve and holds one large plant. The XXL35 model with a 35 l pot can handle large plants and is more space- and substrate-efficient than the 50 l version; thanks to the adaptive collar, the smaller pot fits into the shared XXL tray. The set is complete: a 47 l reservoir and 9 mm distribution are included, so you only need to assemble the system, fill it and start it. It is suitable for herbs, vegetables and mature shrubs and trees, both indoors and outdoors.

How it waters - by gravity only

Each pot is served by the AQUAvalve5 valve with 9 mm distribution. After connection to the reservoir, the valve opens the supply by itself and lets the tray fill with water to the preset level - by gravity alone, without a pump, electricity or a timer. Until the plant uses the water from the tray, the valve will not release another dose. The plant therefore goes through a wet and dry cycle, which builds strong roots; once the tray is emptied, the process repeats. You do not use even a watt of electricity.

Textile FlexiPot for huge roots

XXL sets use round textile FlexiPot pots. Their porous walls air-prune the roots - instead of circling along the plastic wall, a dense branched root ball forms, which absorbs nutrients better. The porosity also oxygenates the substrate and supports vigorous growth. Bear in mind that exposed textile evaporates water, so more pots may slightly raise the humidity in the room.

Recommended substrates

The XXL always requires a freely draining substrate. Mixtures in a 50 % / 50 % ratio have proven effective:

• soil and perlite
• soil and expanded clay
• coconut fibre and perlite
• coconut fibre and expanded clay
• Rockwool and expanded clay

If you use expanded clay, rinse the pebbles first - some types are not stable in terms of pH. Before placing the pot into the tray, clean the bottom and walls of substrate, which will keep the AQUAvalve5 valve working properly.

Reservoir setup and start-up

Place the 47 l reservoir at least 150 mm above the highest AQUAvalve5 valve - for example, a Garland plastic stool can serve as a stand. When the water level drops to about 1/3, top it up - and never let it dry out completely. After planting, water and allow 7-10 days for rooting; only then start the system. Stronger roots will then take care of the water from the tray themselves.

Mineral and organic fertilisers

Apply mineral and organic fertilisers through the reservoir and distribution. In the XXL, you can also mix dry fertilisers (e.g. Biotabs or Florganics) directly into the substrate. With liquid organic fertilisers, add a water pump to the reservoir (run 15 min every 2 h) so that nutrients do not settle, and each time the reservoir is emptied, flush the distribution and clean the reservoir, pump and filter. With mineral fertilisers, operation is the simplest and maintenance-free.

Care of the AQUAvalve5 valve

AQUAvalve5 is a simple but precise device - keep the valve and tray clean and free of obstructions. At the end of the season, wash the valve in warm soapy water (an old toothbrush will help). Push limescale out of the nozzle with a paper clip or blow it through; never clean it with a drill - you would destroy the valve.

What is the adaptive collar in the XXL35 for?

The XXL tray is designed for a 50 l pot. The adaptive collar reduces its opening so that the smaller 35 l FlexiPot fits exactly. It is therefore not used with the 50 l version.
