AutoPot package for 1Pot XXL 50 l - fabric pot and 9 mm distribution

This package adds the largest breathable fabric 50l FlexiPot to the system together with the AQUAvalve5 valve and 9 mm distribution. It belongs to the 1Pot XXL (round) family; the 50l pot fits directly into the XXL tray, no adaptive collar is needed.

Fabric FlexiPot - why it is worthwhile

The breathable fabric pot supports air pruning: as soon as the root tips reach the porous wall, the air stops them and the plant forms a rich fibrous root structure. The roots breathe better and there is more oxygen in the zone. FlexiPot is reusable - after emptying, let it dry and shake or brush off dust and fine roots; it can be washed for sterilisation.

How irrigation works

Each pot is served by the AQUAvalve5 valve. After connection to the tank, the valve opens the supply and lets the tray fill with water to the preset level of 20 mm - by gravity only, without pumps, mains pressure, electricity or timers. As long as the plant has not used up the water in the tray, AQUAvalve5 will not allow replenishment, so the plant goes through a wet and dry cycle that supports healthy roots. Once the tray is emptied, the process repeats.

Recommended substrates

The system always requires a freely draining substrate. 50/50 mixes have proven effective: soil and perlite, soil and expanded clay, coconut fibre and perlite, coconut and expanded clay, or Rockwool and expanded clay. If you use expanded clay, rinse the pebbles first - some types are not pH stable. Before placing the pot into the tray, clean the bottom and walls of substrate to maintain the correct function of the valve.

Tank set-up and start-up

Place the tank at least 150 mm above the highest AQUAvalve. If the nutrient solution level drops to 1/3 of the volume, top it up and never let the tank dry out completely. After planting, water and let it root for 7-10 days; only then start the system. Dose mineral and organic fertilisers through the tank and distribution; for organic fertilisers, add a water pump to the tank (run 15 min every 2 h) and each time the tank is emptied, flush the distribution and clean the tank, pump and filter.

What next

The package belongs to the 1Pot XXL system. Roots are controlled by the PotSock Round XXL 50 l; in square pots, the Root Control Disc copper mat does the same job. Fittings can be found among 9 mm parts and 16 mm parts.
