AutoPot 1Pot XXL is a self-watering system for large plants that need more root space than a standard module. The basis is spacious FlexiPot fabric pots with a volume of 35 or 50 litres and the AQUAvalve5 valve, which waters only when the tray is empty. The whole system works by gravity from a reservoir - without a pump, timer or connection to electricity.
How the system works
Water and nutrient solution flow from the reservoir into the tray under the pot. The fabric wall of the FlexiPot draws moisture up to the roots, and as soon as the plant uses up the supply, the AQUAvalve opens the inlet for another dose. The plant therefore controls watering itself, and you only need to top up the reservoir occasionally.
How to choose the size and number of pots
- FlexiPot 35 l - for large plants with a standard root ball, more space-efficient.
- FlexiPot 50 l - for the most robust plants and a longer cycle without intervention.
- 1Pot to 4Pot sets - depending on the number of plants, you choose a set with one to four pots, plus a 47 l reservoir for water storage.
The fabric pot can also be bought separately (FlexiPot 35 l, FlexiPot 50 l), as well as a tray with cover or the copper PotSock sleeve that keeps roots away from the valve. Smaller versions of the system can be found in the 1Pot and 1Pot XL categories, and the full range overview is in the AutoPot hydroponic systems.
Frequently asked questions
Does 1Pot XXL need a pump or electricity?
No. The system works by gravity from a reservoir placed higher up, and the AQUAvalve valve doses water mechanically. There is no need for a pump, timer or mains connection.
What is the difference between the 35 l and 50 l pot?
The 50 litre FlexiPot gives the roots more space and a moisture reserve for longer, making it suitable for the most robust plants. The 35 l version is more space-efficient and is sufficient for large plants with a standard root ball.
How large a reservoir is needed?
1Pot XXL sets are supplied with a 47 l reservoir. The more pots you connect to the system, the more often you will need to top up the reservoir - for larger setups, a larger reservoir is worthwhile.
