Product detailed description
AutoPot 1Pot XXL35 with 47 l reservoir - 2 pots without daily watering
Do you want to grow large plants and still leave them unattended even at the weekend? AutoPot 1Pot XXL35 serves 2 pots using the AQUAvalve5 valve and can hold two large plants. The XXL35 model with a 35 l pot handles large plants and is more space- and substrate-efficient than the 50 l version; thanks to the adaptive collar, the smaller pot fits into the shared XXL tray. The set is complete: a 47 l reservoir and 9 mm distribution are included, so you only need to assemble the system, fill it and start it. It is suitable for herbs, vegetables and mature shrubs and trees, in indoor and outdoor conditions.
With a larger set, the investment pays off in saved work and water: you do not need electricity, pumps or timers - everything is controlled by gravity pressure from the reservoir. The reservoir does not need to be constantly emptied and the distribution flushed, because fertiliser does not settle in it. And when one part wears out, you replace only that part, not the whole system.
How it waters - only by gravity
Each pot is served by the AQUAvalve5 valve with 9 mm distribution. After connection to the reservoir, the valve opens the supply on its own and lets the tray fill with water to the preset level - solely by gravity, without a pump, electricity or a timer. Until the plant uses the water from the tray, the valve does not release another dose. The plant therefore goes through a wet and dry cycle, which builds strong roots; after the tray empties, the process repeats. You do not use even a watt of electricity.
Textile FlexiPot for huge roots
XXL sets run in round textile pots FlexiPot. Their porous walls air-prune the roots - instead of circling along the plastic wall, a dense branched root ball forms, which absorbs nutrients better. The porosity also oxygenates the substrate and supports vigorous growth. Bear in mind that exposed textile evaporates water, so more pots may slightly raise the humidity in the room.
Recommended substrates
For XXL, always use a freely draining substrate. Mixtures in a 50 % / 50 % ratio have proven effective:
- soil and perlite
- soil and expanded clay
- coconut fibre and perlite
- coconut fibre and expanded clay
- Rockwool and expanded clay
If you use expanded clay, rinse the pebbles first - some types are not pH-stable. Before placing the pot into the tray, clean the bottom and walls of substrate to maintain the correct function of the AQUAvalve5 valve.
Reservoir set-up and start-up
Place the 47 l reservoir at least 150 mm above the highest AQUAvalve5 valve - for example, a Garland plastic stool can serve as a base. When the water level drops to around 1/3, top it up - and never let it dry out completely. After planting, water and allow 7-10 days for rooting, only then start the system; stronger roots will then take care of the water from the tray themselves.
Mineral and organic fertilisers
Dose mineral and organic fertilisers through the reservoir and distribution. In XXL, you can also mix dry fertilisers (e.g. Biotabs or Florganics) directly into the substrate. With liquid organic fertiliser, add a water pump to the reservoir (run 15 min every 2 h) so that nutrients do not settle, and each time the reservoir is emptied, flush the distribution and clean the reservoir, pump and filter. With mineral fertilisers, operation is the simplest and maintenance-free.
Care of the AQUAvalve5 valve
AQUAvalve5 is a simple but precise device - keep the valve and tray clean and free of obstructions. At the end of the season, wash the valve in warm soapy water (an old toothbrush will help). Push limescale in the nozzle through with a paper clip or blow it out; never clean it with a drill - you would destroy the valve.

Which size to choose
This set serves 2 pots in a 35 l pot. Need more places? Continue to XXL35 for 4 pots. Want even more volume per plant? Move to XXL50 with 50 l pot. The body of the system is the same; the number of trays, pot capacity and reservoir volume differ.
Frequently asked questions
What is the adaptive collar for in the XXL35?
The XXL tray is sized for a 50 l pot. The adaptive collar reduces its opening so that the smaller 35 l FlexiPot fits exactly into it. Therefore, the collar is not used with the 50 l version.
Which substrate is suitable for XXL?
Always a freely draining 50/50 mix - soil/perlite, soil/expanded clay, coconut fibre/perlite, coconut fibre/expanded clay or Rockwool/expanded clay. Drainage is key for alternating the wet and dry cycle.
