AutoPot 1Pot XXL35 without tank - 1 pot without daily watering

Do you want to grow large plants and still leave them unattended even at the weekend? AutoPot 1Pot XXL35 serves 1 pot using the AQUAvalve5 valve and holds one large plant. The XXL35 model with a 35 l pot can handle large plants and is more space- and substrate-efficient than the 50 l version; thanks to the adaptive collar, the smaller pot fits into the shared XXL tray. There is no tank here - this version is appreciated by growers who are expanding an existing XXL range with another tray, or who choose a tank according to their own capacity and distribution. It is suitable for herbs, vegetables and mature shrubs and trees, in indoor and outdoor conditions.

How it waters - only by gravity

Each pot is served by the AQUAvalve5 valve with a 9 mm distribution line. After connection to a tank, the valve opens the supply on its own and lets the tray fill with water to the preset level - by gravity only, without a pump, electricity or a timer. Until the plant uses up the water from the tray, the valve will not release another dose. The plant therefore goes through a wet and dry cycle, which builds strong roots; once the tray is emptied, the process repeats. You do not use even a watt of electricity.

Textile FlexiPot for huge roots

XXL sets run in round textile pots FlexiPot. Their porous walls air-prune the roots - instead of circling around the plastic wall, a dense branched root ball forms, which absorbs nutrients better. The porosity also oxygenates the substrate and supports vigorous growth. Bear in mind that exposed textile evaporates water, so more pots may slightly raise the humidity in the room.

Recommended substrates

For XXL, always use a freely draining substrate. Mixtures in a 50% / 50% ratio have proven themselves:

• soil and perlite
• soil and expanded clay
• coconut fibre and perlite
• coconut fibre and expanded clay
• Rockwool and expanded clay

If you use expanded clay, rinse the pebbles first - some types are not pH-stable. Before placing the pot into the tray, clean the bottom and sides of substrate; this will maintain the proper function of the AQUAvalve5 valve.

Tank setup and start-up

The tank is not included with this version - it is suitable when you are expanding an existing XXL set-up with another pot or want to choose a tank according to your own capacity. Whatever tank you choose, place it at least 150 mm above the highest AQUAvalve5 valve, top it up at around 1/3, and never let it run dry. After planting, let the plants root for 7-10 days, and only then start the system.

Mineral and organic fertilisers

Dose mineral and organic fertilisers through the tank and distribution line. In XXL, you can also mix dry fertilisers (e.g. Biotabs or Florganics) directly into the substrate. With liquid organics, add a water pump to the tank (run 15 min every 2 h) so that nutrients do not settle, and each time the tank is emptied, flush the distribution line and clean the tank, pump and filter. With mineral fertilisers, operation is the simplest and maintenance-free.

Care of the AQUAvalve5 valve

AQUAvalve5 is a simple but precise device - keep the valve and tray clean and free of obstructions. At the end of the season, wash the valve in warm soapy water (an old toothbrush helps). Push limescale in the nozzle out with a paper clip or blow it through; never clean it with a drill - you would destroy the valve.

Expansion and accessories

Which size to choose

This set serves 1 pot in a 35 l pot. Need more places? Continue to XXL35 for 2 pots, XXL35 for 4 pots. Want an even larger volume per plant? Move on to XXL50 with a 50 l pot. The body of the system is the same; the number of trays, pot capacity and tank volume differ.

What is the adaptive collar for in the XXL35?

The XXL tray is sized for a 50 l pot. The adaptive collar reduces its opening so that the smaller 35 l FlexiPot fits exactly into it. It is therefore not used with the 50 l version.

What do I need for the version without a tank?

A tank, 9 mm filter and tap. Either connect them to an existing XXL set-up, or buy a separate tank - place it at least 150 mm above the highest valve.
