Detailed information

Product detailed description

AutoPot FlexiPot 50 l - spacious fabric pot for large plants

FlexiPot 50 l is the largest in the classic XXL range - 50 litres of substrate will support robust plants, shrubs and small trees with the longest vegetative cycle. The breathable fabric keeps the root zone oxygenated and the plant builds a vigorous root system that can fully colonise the large volume.

How air-pruning works

As soon as a root tip reaches the porous wall of the pot, air and light from outside stop it from growing further - so-called air-pruning. The plant then creates a rich secondary, fibrous root structure instead of one long root, with significantly better uptake of moisture and nutrients. It also eliminates the typical circling of roots around the wall that troubles plastic pots - so you get a robust plant from a smaller volume.

Breathable fabric without BPA and lead

FlexiPot is made of material without BPA and lead, with no odour or leaching. The porous textile improves gas exchange in the substrate, so more oxygen is retained in the root zone. Unlike ordinary fabric bags, FlexiPot has a sturdy base and keeps the plant upright. The pot is durable and reusable: after emptying, let it dry, then brush off dust and fine roots, and for sterilisation you can wash it in a washing machine or in a bath in a peroxide solution.

Where FlexiPot 50 l belongs

The 50 l textile pot fits into a round saucer and collar of the appropriate size across AutoPot systems with the AQUAvalve5 valve - for example into the 1Pot XXL family or the easy2GO kit. When growing in the system, fit a copper PotSock Round XXL 50 l to the bottom of the pot so the roots do not head towards the valve. Place the pot so that the fabric does not touch the AQUAvalve.

Substrate and start-up

Always use a free-draining substrate in the FlexiPot; 50/50 mixes have proven effective - for example soil with perlite or coco with expanded clay. Before placing it in the saucer, clean the base and walls of substrate. After planting, water the plant, let it drain away outside the saucer and allow 7-10 days for rooting, only then start the system - the roots will then take care of the water from the saucer themselves.

Humidity in the room

Bear in mind that several fabric pots side by side may slightly increase humidity in the room - exposed areas of breathable fabric evaporate more than plastic. For larger setups, therefore, make sure there is sufficient ventilation.
