Product detailed description
AutoPot 1Pot XXL50 without reservoir - 2 pots without daily watering
Do you want to grow large plants and still leave them unattended at the weekend? AutoPot 1Pot XXL50 serves 2 pots using the AQUAvalve5 valve and holds two large plants. The XXL50 model with a 50 l pot is the largest 1Pot variant - it can support even robust bushes, tomatoes or ornamental woody plants that would hit the ceiling in a smaller pot. There is no reservoir here - this variant is appreciated by growers who are expanding an existing XXL range with another tray, or who choose a reservoir according to their own capacity and distribution. It is suitable for herbs, vegetables and mature bushes and trees, in indoor and outdoor conditions.
With a larger setup, the investment pays back in saved work and water: you do not need electricity, pumps or timers - everything is controlled by gravity pressure from the reservoir. The reservoir does not need to be emptied all the time and the distribution flushed, because fertiliser does not settle in it. And when one part wears out, you replace only that part, not the whole system.
How it waters - only by gravity
Each pot is served by the AQUAvalve5 valve with a 9 mm distribution. After connection to the reservoir, the valve opens the supply by itself and lets the tray fill with water to the preset level - solely by gravity, without a pump, electricity or a timer. Until the plant uses the water from the tray, the valve does not release another dose. The plant therefore goes through a wet and dry cycle that builds strong roots; after the tray empties, the process repeats.
Textile FlexiPot for huge roots
XXL setups run in round textile pots FlexiPot. Their porous walls air-prune the roots - instead of circling along the plastic wall, a dense branched root ball forms, which absorbs nutrients better. The porosity also oxygenates the substrate and supports vigorous growth. Bear in mind that exposed textile evaporates water, so more pots may slightly increase the humidity in the room.
Recommended substrates
The XXL always requires a freely draining substrate. Mixtures in a 50% / 50% ratio have proven effective:
- soil and perlite
- soil and expanded clay
- coco and perlite
- coco and expanded clay
- Rockwool and expanded clay
If you use expanded clay, rinse the pebbles first - some types are not pH stable. Before placing the pot into the tray, clean the bottom and walls of substrate, as this will maintain the proper function of the AQUAvalve5 valve.
Reservoir setup and start-up
The reservoir is not included with this variant - it is suitable when you are expanding an existing XXL setup with another pot or want to choose a reservoir according to your own capacity. Whatever reservoir you choose, place it at least 150 mm above the highest AQUAvalve5 valve, top it up at around 1/3, and never let it dry out. After planting, allow the plants to root for 7-10 days, and only then start the system.
Mineral and organic fertilisers
Apply mineral and organic fertilisers through the reservoir and distribution. In addition, you can mix dry fertilisers (e.g. Biotabs or Florganics) directly into the substrate in the XXL. With liquid organic fertiliser, add a water pump to the reservoir (run 15 min every 2 h) so that nutrients do not settle, and each time the reservoir is emptied, flush the distribution and clean the reservoir, pump and filter. With mineral fertilisers, operation is the simplest and maintenance-free.
Care of the AQUAvalve5 valve
AQUAvalve5 is a simple but precise device - keep the valve and tray clean and free of obstructions. At the end of the season, wash the valve in warm soapy water (an old toothbrush helps). Push limescale in the nozzle through with a paper clip or blow it out; never clean it with a drill - you would destroy the valve.

Expansion and accessories
You can expand the system at any time with another tray: choose the XXL tray and the 1Pot XXL pack with pot. You can add a replacement pot as a FlexiPot 50 l, and for a cleaner tray and healthier roots add the copper PotSock Round 50 l. You will find the whole range in the 1Pot XXL systems category.
Which size to choose
This setup serves 2 pots in a 50 l pot - the largest 1Pot pot in the range. The neighbouring size is XXL50 for 1 pot. Do you need a smaller pot and more space? Choose the XXL35 variant with a 35 l pot. The mechanics are the same for all of them; only the number of trays and the capacity differ.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the XXL50 not have an adaptive collar?
The 50 l pot fits directly into the XXL tray; only the smaller 35 l variant needs the collar. You therefore get the largest substrate volume per plant without additional parts.
What do I need for the version without a reservoir?
A reservoir, 9 mm filter and tap. Either connect them to an existing XXL setup, or buy a separate reservoir - place it at least 150 mm above the highest valve.
