For perfect growth, plants need an environment that suits them as closely as possible. Creating these ideal conditions requires precise monitoring and operation of all the electronics in the tent. Such a task is made easier by devices such as:

• Thermostat - switches connected appliances (lights, fans, heating) according to temperature
• Hygrostat - switches according to humidity, most often a fan
• Speed control - reduces the speed of ballasts, fans and fan as needed
• Step controllers - regulate speed in steps, and are often water-resistant
• Pressure control - maintains constant pressure in the grow room by regulating the fan

Among the favourites for switching are the rheostatic power controllers Variispeed dimmer and Hutermann dimmer, which simply reduce the speed of the connected appliance. You can choose by brand; we recommend TechGrow and the Czech Malapa. A classic in the world of growing electronics control is GSE. Individual fan manufacturers also supply specialised controllers that fit their products perfectly - for example CAN-Fan, CAN-Filters or PrimaKlima.

What is the difference between a speed controller and a step controller?

A classic speed controller reduces speed smoothly and is suitable for standard fans and ballasts. Step controllers change speed in stages, are often water-resistant, and we recommend them for more powerful appliances and humid environments.

Can every fan be dimmed with a speed controller?

Not quite. Rheostatic dimmers are designed for fans with AC motors. Models with EC motors are controlled by a 0-10 V signal, so you need the appropriate control unit for them - we will help you with matching.

Why regulate fan speed at all?

Lower speed means quieter operation and a more stable climate in the tent, without having to switch the fan off completely. At the same time, you save energy and extend the motor's service life.

How do you maintain constant pressure in the grow room?

For this, pressure control is used, which automatically adjusts the speed of the extract fan so that constant negative pressure remains in the enclosed space - odours then do not escape past the filter.
