Soil Mixes Plagron

Soil mixes, also called soil mixes or substrates, are materials used for growing plants in containers, flower pots or garden beds instead of traditional garden soil. These mixes are designed to provide an optimal environment for plant growth by combining various components such as sand, peat, compost, bark, perlite and other materials.

Soil mixes are suitable for cultivating plants in outdoor and indoor environments. At first glance, they resemble ordinary soil. However, unlike soil, they are much cleaner and therefore help you avoid the risks associated with growing in ordinary outdoor soil in the field or garden, which is often more or less contaminated, whether by various chemicals, heavy metals, or pollution of natural origin, the presence of pests, pathogens or, conversely, the absence of beneficial microorganisms.

Individual soil mixes differ mainly in the proportion and type of peat. Soil is considered an ideal substrate for complete beginners, as growing in this medium, unlike hydroponics, tolerates a certain amount of beginner mistakes. While in hydroponic systems we water the crop several times a day, soil often only needs manual watering a few times a week. Growers are also not deprived of the option of automatic irrigation, so professionals also use this traditional growing medium, especially in organic farming.

The main advantage of growing in soil is precisely the possibility of using purely organic fertilisers to achieve a BIO-quality harvest. Some products with RHP certification are enriched with additional components, such as perlite for perfect aeration of the substrate. These benefits are offered, for example, by the 50 litre pack of Bio SoilMix, which is literally flying off the shelves, and you can also get it from us at a truly unbeatable price!

In our range, you can choose from a wide selection of various pre-fertilised branded soil mixes containing the best types of peat from top manufacturers, led by the Dutch BioNova
