Do you want to care for your garden ecologically and sustainably? Try the new vegan fertilisers from ATAMI!
The Dutch company ATAMI has for many years been among the leading manufacturers of supplies for growers, especially fertilisers, substrates and equipment for indoor growing and hydroponics. In today’s article, we will look at the brand-new VGN range of ecological fertilisers, which are intended for growing in soil indoors and outdoors.
Many professional and home growers are now aware that their hobby can have a significant impact on the environment. Atami has therefore decided to create a range of fertilisers that would be in line with modern trends in sustainable agriculture. Products from the VGN range are made from plant residues, which are recycled into premium liquid fertilisers. Unlike strong mineral fertilisers, the VGN fertiliser formula is adapted to support microbial life in the soil without reducing its effectiveness. Microbes such as bacteria, fungi, nematodes and others play a key role in breaking down nutrients for plants, and soil without them is infertile. This applies both when growing in horticultural substrates in pots, and outdoors, in beds or in a greenhouse.
- VGN fertilisers contain nutrients that are immediately available to plants.
- Amino acids, sugars and other organic compounds in VGN fertilisers nourish not only plants, but also benefit important soil microbes.
- All fertilisers from the Atami VGN range have passed strict Kontrolní unie inspections and have been approved as inputs for organic agriculture

VGN 5-2-2 – Basic growth fertiliser with an increased nitrogen content
VGN 5-2-2 is an organic liquid fertiliser intended to support vegetative growth, that is, the formation of new roots, leaves and stems. It contains an increased amount of nitrogen, a nutrient element that is essential for plants as part of chlorophyll and amino acids crucial for photosynthesis and the formation of new cells. A typical sign of nitrogen deficiency in plants is a pale colour and yellowing leaves. In addition to the basic NPK nutrients, VGN 5-2-2 also contains trace elements in an easily absorbable chelated form.
VGN 2-2-4 – Basic growth fertiliser with an increased potassium content
VGN 2-2-4 is an organic liquid fertiliser for the growth phase of the plant life cycle, which contains an increased amount of potassium. This nutrient element is classed among macronutrients and is important for plants in the regulation of stomata and the formation of flowers. Plants affected by potassium deficiency have burnt leaf edges, on which necrotic spots may appear. The pair of fertilisers VGN 2-2-4 and VGN 5-2-2 serves as basic nutrition for the growth phase, and you can combine them in adjustable ratios to meet the specific requirements of different plants according to age and species.
VGN 1-4-4 – Basic flowering fertiliser
VGN 1-4-4 is a liquid organic fertiliser for supporting flowering, which contains an increased amount of phosphorus and potassium. Phosphorus is particularly important for plants during reproduction. It is part of DNA, enzymes, proteins and cell membranes. VGN 1-4-4, in combination with the other products from the VGN range, provides your plants with enough basic NPK nutrients and micronutrients without the need for additional boosters. VGN 1-1-4 contains nutrients obtained by processing plant waste, and the product has been approved for use in organic agriculture.
VGN CALMAG
VGN CALMAG is a liquid calcium and magnesium supplement intended for organic agriculture. Calcium and magnesium are nutrient elements important for cell wall formation and photosynthesis. Tap water often contains too little of these elements. If you water with soft water, rainwater or reverse osmosis water, then an additive containing magnesium and calcium is essential. The same applies when growing in coco and other hydroponic substrates. VGN CALMAG does not contain nitrogen and will not change the NPK ratio in the nutrient solution.
