XL variant of the 150 mm filter – longer body, more carbon

AC Infinity DCF6-XL is an extended variant of the 150 mm DCF6 carbon filter with a larger quantity of activated carbon. It is chosen where the same 150 mm setup needs to handle a higher maximum flow rate or provide a longer lifespan than the standard DCF6 offers.

Differences compared with the standard DCF6

• Filter body length: 20 inches (50.8 cm) instead of 16 inches (40.6 cm)
• Overall dimensions: 50.0 x 22.7 cm
• Maximum flow rate: 520 CFM (884 m3/h) instead of 410 CFM (697 m3/h)
• Package contents: without straps (strap) – rope clip hangers and pre-filters only

For the XL version, the manufacturer states that the larger quantity of carbon is the reason for the higher flow rate and longer filter lifespan.

Material and construction

The filter media consists of Virgin Australian activated carbon (Virgin Australian RC412) with a rating of 1200+ IAV in a 38 mm layer. The flange is made of aluminium and the mesh is made of galvanised steel.

Pair the DCF6-XL filter with a fan and ducting with the same 150 mm diameter as the standard DCF6. Activated carbon in the ducting creates resistance and reduces the actual flow rate of the setup – therefore, the fan should be selected with reserve capacity:

Why choose the DCF6-XL instead of the standard DCF6?
If you need a higher maximum flow rate in the same 150 mm setup (520 versus 410 CFM) or a longer media lifespan, the XL version provides this thanks to its longer body with a larger quantity of carbon.
