What the ebm-papst EC motor does

An EC motor is an electronically commutated motor with electronics integrated directly into the housing. It stands out for low power draw, quiet operation and smooth speed control. Unlike cheap phase control on AC motors, energy is not lost on the way to the motor, so the fan runs efficiently and without unnecessary humming. EC is a type of motor, not a way of connecting it to anything else.

Matching with filter and ducting

Always choose the same diameter for the fan, filter flange and ducting - in this model 315 mm. A carbon filter increases the resistance of the system, so size the fan with a reserve above the needs of the growing space and match the filter and ducting to the same 315 mm diameter. Otherwise, mismatched diameters add unnecessary resistance, reduce performance and increase noise.

Which Blue Line to choose

This model is the entry-level EC version of the range. Need a larger diameter and airflow? Go for Blue Line PK355/400-EC 4400 m3/h or the most powerful Blue Line 6000 m3/h. The cheaper AC version of the same size is the Blueline PK300/315 3000 m3/h.

What to buy with the fan
