Silicon for stronger, more resilient plants

Silicon is an important element for higher plants, especially when you grow in water-based systems. Terra Aquatica Silicate is a pH-neutral powder made from old deposits of biologically transformed organic matter and natural siliceous clay components. Its colloids improve the cation exchange capacity of the solution, making nutrients more available to the plant. At the same time, it stabilises the pH and conductivity of the solution, thereby reducing stress in fast-growing plants and protecting against metal toxicity. It contains more than 60 minerals - the new formula is also richer in silicon, finer for better solubility, with a higher proportion of carbonates for more stable pH, and also supplies calcium.

Dosage and use

Silicate is a supplement, so always use it together with nutrients. Dose 4 g per 10 litres of water into the nutrient solution - a small dose that makes the pack go a long way. You can also sprinkle the powder at the base of the plant (roughly one teaspoon, about 4 g) or apply it to the leaves (4 g per 10 l as a spray, or 10 to 50 g per m2 directly).

What Silicate works well with

Silicate works in synergy with all Terra Aquatica fertilisers, for example with the basic TriPart range. However, be careful when combining it with beneficial microorganisms (TrikoLogic): in the substrate, dissolved silicate would slow their establishment, so in this case apply it only foliarly or directly at the base of the plant. Conversely, in open soil Silicate supports the growth of beneficial microorganisms.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Silicate on its own?

No, it is a supplement. Always add it together with fertiliser - on its own it does not replace nutrition.

Can it be combined with microorganisms?

Carefully in the substrate. Dissolved silicate slows the establishment of beneficial microorganisms, so in that case use Silicate only foliarly or at the base of the plant. In open soil, on the other hand, it supports microbial life.

How much should I dose?

4 g per 10 litres of water into the nutrient solution. The same ratio also applies to foliar spraying.
