Product detailed description
The transition into flowering in hydroponics is a sharp cut: the plant stops building leaves and starts setting flowers, and the nutrient solution must adapt to that from one day to the next. Shogun Samurai Hydro Bloom A+B is a two-part flowering base that replaces Samurai Hydro Grow A+B in your tank and carries the plant all the way to flushing.
How Bloom differs from Grow
This is not a marketing difference; it is visible in the safety data sheets. The flowering component B contains potassium dihydrogen phosphate in the 5 to 10 % range, while the growth version contains only 3 to 5 % - so there is significantly more phosphorus going into flowering. Conversely, in component A of Bloom, calcium ammonium nitrate drops to 5 to 10 % compared with 10 to 15 % in Grow, and potassium nitrate increases. In short: less nitrogen, more phosphorus and potassium - exactly what flowering needs. That is why Grow and Bloom are never mixed in one solution; only one of them is used at a time.
The dose decreases in flowering, it does not increase
This is where many growers make a mistake and add more. According to our dosing chart, Samurai Hydro Bloom is applied in the first three weeks of flowering at 3 ml per litre, in the fourth week it is reduced to 2 to 3 ml/l, and in the fifth to sixth week to 1 to 2 ml/l; the seventh week stays the same. Components A and B are added in the same 1:1 ratio. The reason for the decreasing dose is simple: additional products are added to the flowering base at that time, and the total solution concentration is calculated as a whole, not bottle by bottle - so follow the dosing chart and measure regularly.
pH in hydroponics
The recommended pH of the nutrient solution is 5.5 to 6.5. In the first half of flowering, pH tends to rise - if it goes above 6.5, bring it down with pH Down. In the second half of flowering, it may fall; if it drops below 5.5, adjust it back, for example using Shogun Silicon or pH Up.
Who is added to the flowering base and when
Bloom is not a solo act - it is the base on which the rest of the flowering programme stands. From the first week of flowering, Sumo Active Boost is added according to our chart (2 ml/l), and from the fourth week PK Warrior 9/18. In the eighth week, Hydro Bloom ends completely and is replaced by Dragon Force at a dose of 4 ml/l - this replaces both Bloom and PK Warrior in the final stage. In the last week before harvest, flushing is done with clean water and there are no Shogun fertilisers left in the feed.
SmartZen
Alongside the nutrients themselves, Samurai Hydro Bloom also carries the SmartZen Maximiser biostimulant package. It increases the efficiency of photosynthesis and nutrient uptake, their distribution within the plant and chlorophyll production. Shogun states that commercial tests showed 6 to 8 % higher productivity compared with a fertiliser with the same NPK formulation without SmartZen, and on the website it speaks of up to 8 % higher yield. The figures come from its own tests, the methodology of which has not been published.
Soft or hard water
As with the growth version, Samurai Hydro Bloom is produced separately for soft water (EC below 0.4) and separately for hard water (EC above 0.4) - so you are buying a different version of the product, not a different dose. If you used Grow in the hard-water version, stick with the same version for Bloom. Measure the EC of your tap water with an EC metre.

When should I switch from Grow to Bloom?
With the start of the flowering phase. According to our dosing chart, Samurai Hydro Grow is no longer used in flowering and Hydro Bloom takes over. The transition is complete, not gradual - the two fertilisers are never mixed in one solution, because each has a formulation tuned to its own phase.
Why should I reduce fertiliser in the middle of flowering?
Because at that time additional products are added to the solution - in the fourth week PK Warrior 9/18, throughout flowering Sumo Active Boost. The total concentration is calculated as a whole. Our chart therefore reduces Hydro Bloom from 3 ml/l to 2 to 3 ml/l in the fourth week and to 1 to 2 ml/l in the fifth to sixth week. Follow the dosing chart and measure.
At what ratio should I mix components A and B?
In equal parts, i.e. 1:1 - the same amount of component A and component B. Take the exact number of millilitres per litre from the dosing chart; it changes according to the flowering week and water hardness. Never mix the components together in concentrated form; add them one after the other to measured water and stir each time.
Do I need to buy the version for my water for Bloom?
Yes, the choice of version also applies in flowering: Samurai Hydro Bloom is separate for soft water (EC below 0.4) and separate for hard water (EC above 0.4). Measure the EC of your tap water with an EC metre. If you used the hard-water version in growth, stay with it in flowering too.
